As an educator, I believe that every student should learn in a way that is best for them. I
recognize that not every student learns the same way. I commit to creating a classroom that is
supportive to each child by researching and using different learning styles in my lessons in order
to reach many different students in my classroom. I also commit to getting to know each student
so I will have an understanding of who they are and how they learn.
In my self-assessment I clicked that I strongly agree to the statement of I understand that
students learn in many different ways. This goes right along with my professional disposition.
Not all students learn the same way, they have different learning styles. Also, as an educator I
need to be patent when working with the students. They do not all learn/understand right away.
Some students must work harder to understand while some students get it from the very
beginning.
I have grown so much in my professional disposition throughout my program of studies. I
have learned about the many different learning styles and how to teach in ways that each student
might understand. For an example, one way to help visual and auditory learners understand the

directions, is by having the directions written out for the students to see/read on their own. The
teacher should also read the directions out loud so the auditory learns will also understand.
Professional dispositions and the Model Code of Ethics are similar. “Dispositions are the
values, commitments and professional ethics that influence behaviors toward students, families,
colleagues and communities and that affect student learning and achievement, motivation and
development, as well as the educator’s own professional growth. If sincerely held, dispositions
should lead to actions and patterns of professional conduct” (Professional Dispositions of
Learners). The model code of ethics states responsibilities for educators. It states the
responsibilities to the profession, for professional competence, to students, the school
community, and the responsibility for ethical use of technology.
In order to improve my professional disposition, I will get to know my students. When I
know who they are I will have a better understanding of how they learn. Once I know their
learning styles, I can start to incorporate it into my lessons. I will also complete research on
learning styles if I need to find a different way to teach a student in order for them to better
understand.
