Nervousness

• Nervousness
– It is natural that you get nervouss in front
of an audience – this is actually good
because of the adrenaline and the
butterflies in your stomach!

– BUT your nervousness can also take over

and become a problem. Therefore it is good
to have some tools to manage your
nervousness.
Nervousness

During this
presentation we
should discuss
simple
techniques to
overcome ones
fear of speaking
in public
Tools to control your
nervousness
• Mental sentences
– Can strengthen your confidence and give you a
positive attitude.
– The sentences should be simple, short and positive.
– Ej. ”I can, I will...”.

• Visualization (is used very much in the world

of sports)
– Develop positive images of a desired situation.
– You sit down, close your eyes and start visualizing a
certain situation.
– This can be combined with mental sentences.
Tools to control your
nervousness
• Anchoring
– Think in a desired situation and the
adjectives associated with the situation.
Now associate this situation with the future
presentation you have to do.

• ”Grounding”
– The idea is to concentrate on standing well
on the ground and focus on ones
respiration.
The end

• Use your experiences next time

• Be open
• Plan
• Be well-prepared
• Practice

10 minutes. You choose the topic – it could be
a presentation of Zambia, your organisation or
any other topic.
