1) Facts; Mary depended on Jodie for Lungs and heart, which would tax Jodie.

 Both Parents are against killing one of their child and chooses to let them both die, as they
are both Catholic Devout and believe it is God’s will.
 The court ruled out that only one sister can survive than letting both die.
 Both Doctors and Court didn’t consider the parents opinion.
 Under english law, it was not possible for the parents’s wishes to proceed.

2)“Should surgeons detach Mary, certainly killing her, to let Jodie live a relatively
normal life? Or must they do nothing to harm Mary and stand by while both
certainly die?”

3) Since it was said in the bible, one shouldn’t decide who gets to live and not as it is only for
God to decide. In man’s law, The Judges decision undermines the law.

4) Option 1 - Permanent Union until certain death of both twins within 3-4 months or at best
years
Option 2 - Separate the the two with Jodie being able to live, and Mary dying.

5) Option 1, was not favorable to the judges as they are able to view that they can save those
who can be saved. Both would die and as Mary is depending on Jodie’s organs to live but it was
also making Jodie suffer as the Important organs are working twice as hard for both of them to
live. This option was favorable to the parents as they can face the consequences of losing and it
was in their belief that it was the will of God.

 Option 2, provided a safe haven for Jodie to live. The choices still bears for the judges
whether to proceed as they have to kill an innocent child to save another. They viewed this as self
defence as Mary is slowly killing Jodie, but how can they put blame on a newborn child. They weren’t
conditioned for nature to live, as they were born with a complication.
