Reflection

By: Christian Kyle S. Beltran Section: CE202

Mathematics, Numeric or geometric? According to Henry Poincare, a French

mathematician and a theoretical physicist says, "Mathematics is the art of giving the

same name to different things" So what does it mean? Mathematics, unlike poetry,

it suggests that creativity, relationships and rich language, are integral to the

subject itself. Mathematics can be characterized as the investigation of dynamic

patterns, numbers, obviously, are one of the primary instances of a reflection,

regardless of whether we're adding, subtracting and multiplying, or something

theoretical like thoughts. Yet, for mathematicians, patterns of considerably more

worthy of deliberation discovered in the nature. It tells about people having

different point of views when it comes to mathematics. There are some people who

are visual learners, these people are intelligent to geometric patterns in nature and

in the world of math. While there are also some that excels in number patterns.

Mathematics is the science of patterns and relationships. As a student i appreciate

the most is that, mathematics investigates the possible associations among the idea

of having GEOMETRIC PATTERNS instead of numerical patterns. Geometric

patterns are found everywhere, you look around and you'll find something that is a

symmetry of different objects. These geometric patterns rely on both logic and

creativity, and it is pursued both for different practical purposes and other

interests in life. When I’m seeing geometric patterns, this gives me the feeling and

the thought that mathematics also lies in the beauty of nature and gives us

intellectual challenge because of its geometric patterns.
