LeBron achieves 'triple double'; Lakers beat Bulls
CHICAGO - LeBron James and Anthony Davis watched from the bench and were
excited as Kyle Kuzma delivered a good
attack from the Los Angeles Lakers in
the fourth quarter.
By then, James had made his usual
contribution. But Kuzma's performance
was another cause for optimism for
these Lakers.
James had 30 points, 11 assists and 10
rebounds for his third straight "triple-double," and the Lakers rallied to beat the
Chicago Bulls 118-112 on Tuesday night for their sixth straight win.
Kuzma scored 15 points, including 11 in the fourth quarter. He played his third
game after missing the start of the season with a right ankle injury.
The 24-year-old point guard was injured while playing for the US national team.
"I'm on the mend," he said. "It's a process, I know. It's about being patient now,
because I haven't really played a lot of basketball since August."
Kuzma averaged 18.7 points and 5.5 rebounds per game last season. The Lakers
expect him to pose a third threat to rivals, behind the mighty duo of James and
Davis.
"Kuz got into a rhythm, and he's capable of doing this," James said.
The Lakers trailed 19 points before handcuffing Chicago in the fourth period of the
game that marked the end of a three-visit road trip. And while James delivered
another brilliant performance, he remained on the bench for much of a 16-0 streak
early in the fourth period.
Kuzma, Quinn Cook and Dwight Howard sparked the Lakers' reaction. Howard hit
a key block off Coby White during the great streak.
Cook hit a 3-pointer to give the Lakers a 94-93 lead with 8:53 to play. He finished
with 17 points, while Anthony Davis had 15 points and seven rebounds.
It was Davis' first game in his hometown since he was acquired in a trade with the
New Orleans Pelicans. Chicago fell for the fifth time in six games.
