Hydrological cycle
The hydrological cycle is the group of water transfers between the atmosphere, land
and sea and its three states: Solid, liquid and gaseous in which all this movement is
produced by the Sun. This cycle is of great importance for natural ecosystems and that
all living beings need it to do biological processes.
Thanks to the evolution and reproduction of the human being, it has managed to develop
new technologies and a greater population on earth that over time have a greater
demand for resources, among them the most important: water.

Importance of the hydrological cycle in water supply systems in

Mexico
In Mexico at the beginning of the 20th century, a large number of storage dams,
irrigation districts, aqueduct, and water supply systems were built, in order to satisfy
the needs of the population.
Fortunately, Mexico is a country rich in resources, and in the case of water, it is not far
behind, the hydrological cycle has been of great importance for the country, since
having a large amount of water has been able to store more and thus it has maintained
the population with a constant water supply.
Unfortunately this is not the case for the whole country since there are areas where
supply is difficult, especially in the northern and central zones, in the case of the
northern part of the country it is due to the lack of rainfall per year, the rough deserts
and the arid climate, in the case of the central areas it is due to the population density
and the type of highly permeable soil makes the task of supply more complicated, being
an area with a lot of population generates a greater demand for resources, in the same
way you can mention indigenous areas or even low-resource areas within cities where
development and technologies do not come in the same way since the economy does
not allow it, as it is in the capital cities of the country therefore the technologies for
water supply become in some cases more rudimentary.

If we mention the subject in a global way, it could be said that even the storage of water
in Mexico has been a great privilege if we compare with countries such as Palestine,
the United Arab Emirates or Lebanon where the hydrological cycle is not as great as in
our country. However, it is not an unlimited privilege, despite the fact that the
hydrological cycle is of great help, if humanity does not know how to take advantage of
it, it could be lost, and go from a privilege to a need.

The future
In recent years, greater awareness has been generated regarding the care of the
environment, since the forecasts regarding water consumption and its availability are
alarming for the future. Also, a large part of the world population does not have access
to safe drinking water. In a comfortable and safe way, the question now is: Will we be
in time to solve the problem? Perhaps, it is time to invest in education, research,
hydraulic projects, new technologies to obtain drinking water and more awareness
campaigns.
