Greetings!
The UP College of Music Student Council (UP CMuSC) is a non-profit organization which
serves as the highest representative body of the UP College of Music studentry. It is at the
forefront of safeguarding the rights of the students, organizing events, and providing avenues,
services, and assistance for the benefit of the students.
The UP CMuSC has always believed that arts is not merely for arts’ sake, rather it is a powerful
tool for social progress and nation-building, and that this is what every Musiko ng Bayan is
mandated to live for. During this time of extreme global crisis, we see the world turn to the arts as
a source of inspiration and as a fortress from all the uncertainty and anxiety today caused by the
COVID-19.
In line with this, guided by our vision of heightened sense of empowerment and social awareness
of the people, we are relaunching “MusiKaakbay: Musika at Bayanihan” for its Season 2.
MusiKaakbay is an online fundraising concert series for the benefit of the students and staff of
the UP College of Music, the University Health Service, and the medical frontliners. This event
will be featuring esteemed students, renowned alumni, and excellent faculty of the UP College of
Music. Coined from the combination of the words "musika" (music) and "kaakbay" (companion),
this project aims to be one with the Filipino Bayanihan spirit during these difficult times:
raising funds to aid our beneficiaries by offering a musical treat to the community.
Our second season will lean more towards promoting, awakening, and igniting the sense and
spirit of nationalism within our audience's hearts. This will be launched on May 31 and will run
until June 5, and June 8 to 12 @ 8pm via Facebook live on our Official Facebook page at
facebook.com/UPCMuSC.
In order to give life to the project, we humbly ask for assistance from your good office to support
our initiative by becoming an official media partner. We believe that your contribution to our
advocacy will help us reach out to a wider audience, which would in turn be extremely
beneficial to help address the needs of the distressed members of our communities and
the medical frontliners.
