I. Explain the following in 2 to 3 sentences:

1. Values

These are basic and fundamental beliefs that guides or motivates attitudes or actions. Values
in a narrow sense is that which is good, desirable, or worthwhile.

2. Ethics

Ethics is a moral philosophy that deals with what is wrong and right. An awareness of good
things for the individual and the society.

3. Laws

These are set of rules and guidelines enforced through social institutions to govern behavior.
It describes clearly what is illegal no matter how people arguing

4. Culture

It is a set of beliefs that practice by a certain group of people. A way of life of a particular
group of people.

5. Society

Group of individual that shares the same geographical and social territory. People that
involved in a persistent social interaction.

II. Answer Briefly in 2 to 3 sentences:

1. Explain the relationship among values, ethics and laws.


Values are set of beliefs that guides and motivates human behavior and actions, these values
guides us on what we called ethics, because ethics is in fact about our character on doing what
is morally right and wrong in which values builds these characters. And we have this law that
enforced through social institutions that limits our actions and makes some ethical things legal.

2. What do you mean by the phrase that “What is ethical is not necessarily legal?”

Ethical is not necessarily legal. This phrase gives us the idea that some ethical doings are
not always the legal things. It doesn't need to be legal to make it ethical. For example. cheating
is legal but doing this one is absolutely unethical. So ethical is not necessarily legal because not
all legal are ethical.
