My dear students,

I have prepared this based on some queries posted to

me by a few students of 3rd & 4th years. These also
apply to some extent in Conference Hall designs too,
with minor changes. But principles are the same.

All the image slides are from the internet, images

courtesy from various sources. And most of them are
for Auditoriums, excepting as noted on the slides.

Please note that the sizes of auditoriums shown in the images
may be quite larger than the ones you are designing.

But the principle remains the same. For a 500 seats

auditorium, the larger span structures adjusted to suit the
size of your 500 seats auditorium could be done. For the 250
& 100/150, smaller ones, concrete roofs also could be had.
Or, may be you could even have a large span roof spanning
all the 3 auditoriums.

Again, the same applies to Conference Rooms & Formal

Meeting rooms with capacities of 200 or more.

May be you could come out with a single, stunning, large span
shell roof with space frame etc., It is possible to have openings
in the roof too if you desired so, to separate one auditorium
from another. It is up to you to decide on these. Your
imagination is your limit. Please note that auditoriums will
have acoustic false ceiling to shape. So tensile fabric roof or
transparent roof etc., is not recommended. Space frame could
have metal roof over which screed concrete could be laid. The
roof will have to be an opaque roof and which would allow false
ceiling to be suspended from the roof.

I have included lot of pictures. Ideas could be borrowed from

these and adapted to suit your project. Included photos are
from simple to sophisticated, to flamboyant. So that you get a
good exposure on various shapes of roofs.
