Ariano, Peter 03/01/2022 Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis Ralph Vaughan WilliamsN/A Strings 5 16:23 2010 Thomas Tallis's theme is the third of nine psalm tunes that he contributed to Archbishop Parker's Psalter in 1567. It is not known when Vaughan Williams first came across the melody, but he used it in The English Hymnal in 1906 (where it appears as No. 92). He later returned to it and appears to have used and elaborated on the tune in some incidental music he wrote for The Pilgrim's Progress, although there is now a gap in the manuscript held by the British Library. It is presumed that Vaugham Williams removed it in order to have it with him when he began work on his work for two string orchestras, now known as 'Fantasia on a Theme by Thomsa Tallis'.

Browne, James 5/11/22 12:00 PM My Victory Won Todd Stalter Band 3 3:50 2022 This piece starts with an energetic and disonant opening before giving way for a developing section that seems to answer the disonant section, while also staying disonany and mysterious. After the end of the development section, it builds back into a bit more of what we hear at the beginning, but this time less disonant. This feels like the title at this point where it truly is "my victory won".
Browne, James 5/11/22 12:03 PM The Pirate's March Kevin Kaisershot Band 3 2:40 2016 This piece opens with a March-style with that pirate twist to it. It then moves to a Polka style briefly before returning back to the March.
Browne, James 5/11/22 12:08 Soundtrack Justin Williams Band 3 4:45 2015 As the name may suggest, this piece is a soundtrack. However, it is a soundtrack of your own imagined movie. So it opens with the build-up into the start of said movie. It quickly moves into the build-up where something happens before a dramatic climax that turns into a sad section. This builds back into the opening upbeat motif, giving a finale to the dramatic imaginary movie.
Browne, James 5/11/22 12:11 Jubellation Mykola Leontovich Michael Story Band 3 2:15 2012 This piece is a fun rendition of the classic "Carol of the Bells" that we know so well. It gives it more energy and jazz-like feel to it along with what feels like a story is being told from the piece that is somehow different but still similar to the original.
Browne, James 5/11/22 12:32 Awakenings Kimberly K. Archer Band 3 5:00 2002 This piece is unique from the last few as it does not start abruptly. It starts off in this mysterious atmosphere, taking its time to pull the wind players in to play. It stays in this mysterious manner until about halfway through where it builds into this seemingly fantastic climax, with hints of dissonance. After this climax, it moves back into this rolling and mysterious motif. It ends like it started, mysteriously and quietly.
Browne, James 5/11/22 1:13 PM A Ralph Vaughan Williams Portrait Ralph Vaughan WilliamsDouglas E. Wagner Strings 3 3:45 2019 This piece features three of Williams pieces. The pieces are combined into one, opening with a lyrical piece. The melodic motif moves around the strings, giving everyone a chance to play it. It moves into a faster movement from another piece. The next "movement" is another lyrical section, but not as upbeat as the first. It ends with a staccato section that is more upbeat.
Browne, James 5/11/22 1:54 PM Orchid Yukiko Nishimura Strings 3 3:30 2022 This piece is lyrical and reminds me of spring as flowers bloom. This piece works great on developing expressiveness on the instrument.
Browne, James 5/11/22 1:57 PM Nordic Suite Art Sheinberg Strings 3 10:15 2012 This piece consists of four movements. The first movement consists of a dance-like style. The second movement sets a more mellow and saddening tone compared to the first. The same goes for the third movement. The last movement spins the last two around and brings in an upbeat and interestingly complex and fun final conclusion to this piece.
Browne, James 5/11/22 1:59 PM Lonestar Variations Richard Meyer Strings 3 7:15 2011 "Variations" should be noted as this piece creates five uniquely different ideas off of a singular tune, as stated in the desciption for the piece, named "Streets of Laredo."
Browne, James 5/11/22 2:02 PM Smallfoot Various Andrew H. Dabczynski Strings 3 6:50 2019 This piece consists of three pieces from the film Smallfoot.
Browne, James 2/18/22 9:43 AM Lament Chris Sharp Band 4 5:00 2021 Lament is a piece dedicated to the September 11th attack, so it opens with a sad and flowing motif between Winds and Brass before having the entire wind section join, breaking again to have these motif's in sections. It builds on these motifs throughout and allows both winds and brass to speak them before joining together. There is a section about halfway through that picks up in tempo, similar to the worry of people watching the attacks happen, wondering what is going to happen before hitting the climax. After this climax, the music changes into a fanfare, which is odd for a piece based on these events.
Browne, James 5/11/22 12:35 PM Ambush Dakota Pederson Band 4 4:05 2022 Much as the description states, this piece is a fast-paced piece dedicated on the idea of an ambush from a set of soldiers in a war. It has short, dissonant chords. There are melodies being played with the short and fierce rhythms being played behind these melodic motifs. The melodies are like soldiers sneaking up on their enemey and the fast paced rhythms are the attacks.
Browne, James 5/11/22 12:37 PM Life Eternal Rossano Galante Band 4 5:30 2022 This piece consists of strong melodies and harmonies, dissonant and then resolving, that allows for students to be expressive and enjoy playing these beautiful lyrical lines together. These lyrical lines give ideas of beauty and allows the listener to reflect on life while they enjoy the music being played.
Browne, James 5/11/22 12:40 PM Mountain Strong Jerry Brubaker Band 4 2:30 2013 Ths piece was originally dedicated to those that suffered from the floods in Colorado in 2013. It has a reaccuring strong motif throughout. It reminds me a bit of the graduation music, which usually means that you have stuck it out and succeeded, much like these folks stuck it out through the devastating floods and have come back to rebuild and be "Mountain Strong."
Browne, James 5/11/22 12:27 PM Bursting with Joy Adrienne Albert Band 4 6:30 2018 Unkown: Online Scores are incorrect.
Browne, James 5/11/22 2:03 PM Voyagers We, Undaunted Richard Meyer Strings 4 6:40 2022 This piece starts off with a sad opening, followed by a joyous section. Something happens musically to portray a sense of being lost before returning back to the joyous section.
Browne, James 5/11/22 2:06 PM Felix Mendelssohn Steven H. Brook Strings 4 3:00 2013 The first section is lyrical and ominous and the second is a fugue that has a strong conclusion.
Browne, James 5/11/22 2:08 PM Strip the Willow Traditional Ralph Hultgren Strings 4 2:35 2007 This piece gives a folk-like dance feel to it, similar to that of what you hear when you are line dancing in a country party.
Browne, James 5/11/22 2:10 PM Bach's Lunch J.S. Bach Danny Seidenberg Strings 4 3:00 2007 This piece takes Bach's Double Violin Concerto and adds a new feel to it, a jazzy swung feel that can lead to so much more for students.
Browne, James 5/11/22 2:42 PM Fugue from Requiem in D Minor Wolfgang Amadeus MozaL oreta Fin Strings 4 2:19 2015 This is a Fugue based on one of the famous pieces written by Mozart. It consists of syncopated and complex rhythms.
Browne, James 2/14/22 6:40 PM Melodious Thunk David Biedenbender Band 5 5:00 2012 This piece is written as an inspiration off of Thelonious Monk, which he was nicknamed Melodious Thunk. It consists of various jazz-famous melodies and backgrounds such as "Salt Peanuts" and a variety of other famous and well-known jazz parts.
Browne, James 2/18/22 9:25 AM Flight Brian Balmages Band 5 4:21 2005 This piece starts off with fast and dissonant parts throughout the ensemble. It gives the listener a sense of flight through the melodic lines and harmonic backgrounds. It is a complex and upbeat piece, perfect for players of advance abilities. The parts are seperated enough too to allow for players to develop a sense of independence while playing through the piece.
Browne, James 5/11/22 1:36 PM Mechanica Karen Kachelmeier Robertson Band 5 2:50 2022 This piece starts with a simple melodic line that adds onto itself. It is simple and leads the listener to have to wait for the harmonics to come in. It gets more complex as the piece develops, playing on the repeated motif and getting more weight to it as the piece continues. This piece would be great to develop patience and independence for each student.
Browne, James 5/11/22 1:41 PM Centennnium Brian Balmages Band 5 5:15 2021 Much like flight, this piece starts upbeat. However, unlike Flight, this piece brings a reoccuring syncopated motif that is moved around the ensemble. After the first minute or so, it backs off to develop a new motif with hints of the previous motif before building back into the original motif. It adds hints of dissonance throughout the piece while continuing that same motif from the beginning before climaxing and creating a lyrical addition on the original motif.
Browne, James 5/11/22 1:46 PM Fanfare Armando Bayolo Band 5 10:00 2004 The first movement is syncopated with accented rhythms. There are several open parts and complex rhythms before moving into a melodic stage, adding hints of the syncopated and accented rhythmical motif from earlier. The second movement is more freely moving than the previous movement, almost as if it does not have one set tempo to it. It also creates more of a dissonant feel to it. This movement would be great for developing independence and the ability to have fun with the piece. The last movement matches the title in that the music feels more like someone running and bulding intensity before going into a full sprint.
Browne, James 5/11/22 2:15 PM Sinfonia No. 2 in D Major Felix Mendelssohn Kirk Moss Strings 5 4:30 2013 This piece is fast paced and consists of alternating staccato rhythms and lyrical sections.
Browne, James 5/11/22 2:17 PM Symphony No. 8 in G Major Antonín Dvorák Todd Parrish Strings 5 6:30 2013 This piece is lyrical and allows for more developed players to further their abilities in shifting and developing a complex playing ability.
