QUESTIONS:

What is eugenics?
According to what I have red, Eugenics is a movement that discourages reproduction of
persons or individuals having genetic defects or presumed to have inheritable
undesirable traits. It was also to control human breeding that based on the assumption
that differences in human mentality and character were largely due to differences in
heredity, and driven by fear that the individuals, persons and groups whose heredity
was poor were more reproductive than those of with good heredities and mentality.

What are the assumptions of eugenics?

Base on my understanding, the assumptions of the eugenics is that the heritability of
behavioral traits. Eugenics have a belief that all of the social the problems were rooted
in our inherited traits; thus, eliminating our social problems required the reduction of
undesirable traits and the maximization of desirable ones. They also believed that
people inherited mental illness, criminal tendencies and even poverty that these
conditions could be bred out of the gene pool.

What made it possible for eugenics to emerge, spread and develop?

The things that made Eugenics possible to emerge, spread and develop is that it aims
to reduce human suffering by “breeding out” disease, disabilities and undesirable
characteristics from the human population, and that idea gives a sense of hope for
another evolution stage in our human race and that attracts some people. While, in this
present time modern eugenics, more often called human genetic engineering, has come
a long way scientifically and ethically and offers hope for treating many genetic
illnesses. Though, it still remains controversial.
