1. Description
The goal of this report is to describe our findings about fixing of suspended Twitter accounts. We
tested on nine suspended twitter accounts.

2. Different ways to fix suspended twitter accounts

If at some point Twitter’s algorithm flags the account for suspension it can ask for the following
verifications:
- Email verification;
- Phone verification;
- Appeal;
The first one is pretty easy to verify, but Twitter does not use it very often.
Most often we are faced with the problem of Phone verification and the need for an appeal.
Of the 9 suspended twitter accounts 3 needed an appeal, 5 needed phone verifications and one
asked to verify that we have control of the email and after that asked for phone verification.

3. Appealing suspended twitter accounts

When a twitter account gets suspended and it can’t be fixed with phone verification it shows a
warning like this:
Then we follow the Link to the Appeal page.
We fill all needed information and submit the appeal.
The Thank you page informed that we will receive a reply in the email.

In that email they informed us that we should reply to the email so that we can confirm we have
access to the email. We replied and waited for their reply.
We did not receive another email from them.
But during a scheduled check of the twitter accounts two weeks after the appeal we noticed that
all three of suspended accounts that were appealed got suspension lifted.

4. Fixing Suspended Twitter Accounts With Phone

Verification
Five of our suspended accounts needed phone verification.
For the phone numbers we used TextNow.

Some of the numbers that TextNow provides are not good for twitter, but most are.
And account is unlocked

5. Fixing Suspended Twitter Accounts With Email

Verification
In one of the suspended twitter accounts we encountered the following message.
And after we confirmed we’ve been offered the opportunity for phone verification.
So this is not a completely different case, but instead is a case of phone verification with an
extra step added.

6. Results From The Experiment

From our 9 suspended accounts 5 or 55,6% needed phone verification.

1 or 11,1% needed email verification.
3 or 33,3% needed an appeal.
For all 9 accounts we successfully lifted the suspension.

7. Conclusion
Lifting twitter suspension is 100% possible and using TextNow is a good method for phone
verification.
Appealing a suspended account involves some wait time but was successful in all 3 cases.
