You have recently worked as a volunteer, coaching teenagers at a sports camp

designed to encourage young people to take up new sports. The organisers have
asked you to write a report for the website. You should briefly describe your
responsibilities as a coach for two different sports. You should also evaluate how
valuable the sports camp was for the teenagers overall and recommend how it
could be improved in future.
Write your report.

Introduction
The principal aim of this report is to provide an assessment of the importance of the
sports camp for our teenagers. I will present the results of an online survey I sent to the
majority of our teenagers and in the final section I will include suggestions concerning
the future development and improvements of our sports camp.

My role in the sports camp

For the last year, I have been working as a volunteer in the sports camp. My labor
consisted in coaching teenagers interested in taking up soccer and basketball. I have
been working each Saturday from 7 am to 3 pm. In addition, I provide our teenagers
with appropriate equipment and make sure the sport fields are in adequate conditions.
What is more, I focus on the development of individual skills depending of the sport, and
emphasize on the importance of teamwork and ethical values.

Importance of the sports camp for teenagers

According to the online survey, a significant proportion of our teenagers (85%) claim to
be ‘greatly thankful’ for the installation of the sports camp in their village and the
equipment received. Moreover, the vast majority of them (91%) are ‘highly satisfied’ for
the skills acquired during their training program. However, another important amount of
them (73%) would like to attend more classes, rather than only Saturday, and almost
the half would be interested in participating in local competitions.

Recommendations
In order to continue improving as a sports organization, I would make the following
recommendations:
 Hire new volunteers qualified to train our teenagers in one or more disciplines we
offer that could give their services in at least two days from Monday to Friday.
 Contact with the local municipality in order to settle sports competition that will
benefit the whole community and motivate our teenagers.
Hopefully, these measures will improve the quality of our service in the future.

A film magazine has invited readers to submit reviews of films which are set in
the future, but deal with themes relevant to today´s world, such as our
relationship with technology or environmental problems. You decide to submit a
review briefly describing such a film and explaining why its themes are relevant
today. You should also consider how important it is for films set in the future to
say something about contemporary society.
Write your review.

Our present world is plagued by environmental problems while technology increases

exponentially without control, exceeding the barriers of ethics. The repercussion of the
present irresponsibility of the human race may not be seen now, but sooner or later we
may suffer the consequences of our dementia.
Noah’s Rocket (2018), directed by Paul Marimón is based on the successful fiction book
written by Liam Torres, with the same name. It is first set in 2055, in a world of a
disproportionate military development, abuse of natural resources and tensions
between first-world countries (much more dangerous than the Cold War).
One night, an extremely smart and millionaire NASA engineer named Noah Johnson
(starred by Cristhian Pérez), who was in charge of the project of Mars’ colonization, has
a dream in which he is ordered to build a rocket ship and travel to Mars, in order to
escape from the future destruction of the Earth. Suddenly, he buys the materials
needed and continues the project by his own dedicating almost the 100% of his time
with the help of his wife, three sons and their wives, all of them qualified scientists and
engineers.
People laugh at his desperate effort to build the rocket. However, twelve years later a
global war starts, and as the weapons used are so massive and letal, the world is
destroyed, but before that happens, Noah’s family had already been in their way
towards Mars with the appropriate equipment to live in and carrying a great amount of
animals.
In contrast to the biblical story, destruction does not come from a deity, but from the
human race itself, as a consequence of greed and boundless ambition. In my opinion,
the film achieves to critic modern disproportionate military development and abuse of
natural resources.
I would strongly recommend Noah’s Rocket to everyone seeking to understand the
devastating consequences of the uncontrolled technological growth or the predation of
the environment.
