How to Get a Classy Style

Welcome to the Classy First Steps, a study and practical applications to achieve classiness, a classy style and
behaviour.
We first study together what makes a classy appearance by studying the Pedigree woman, then we will break it
down to actionable steps. This topic of 'How to get a classy style' (in appearance) will be covered in two
lessons.

Please note that the word "Pedigree" will be used to associate the finest class of woman, and the words 'class'
and 'classy' are just a method of describing a certain elegant and sophisticated effect. These words are advised
not to be used at all.

Clothing is a way of identifying someone's role in society or social class. We identify people by their clothes
and people identify us by what we wear, whether we like it or not. We recognize a policeman, doctor, postman
by their clothes. That is the easy part. The less obvious factors we use to "judge" to different degrees are the
hairstyle, personal grooming, quality of clothes, shoes and bags, formality of dressing etc.

Clothing is a language of its own. It speaks volume about what you think of yourself, what you think about the
person you are going to meet, how you shop, your priorities, how much you value your looks and appearance,
so on and so forth.

Classy styles are often associated with the wealthy. However not all wealthy or "rich" styles are classy.

This also means, a classy style does not MEAN top-to-toe designers. Do not be impressed when you meet
someone with a ostentatious and flamboyant dress style. Asking the right questions leads to finding the right
answers. To demystify whether the finest women - the Pedigree class wears designers all day long? We have to
study the way they shop, where they shop and what they buy. We will also study how they put together their
classy look and style.

I will get more into that as we talk about the Pedigree woman's style of dressing.

Today, we will be specifically covering "How to Get a Classy Style (of dressing)" by studying classy styles of
fine women.

General Principles Of Classy Dressing

Elegant

Never dress to impress (at least obviously).

Dress style is not loud or ostentatious.

Logos are not worn at all or kept to a minimum.

Cleanliness is as important as godliness.

Style of dressing is always on the formal side.

Follows a set of rules of appropriate day time and night time colours and jewelry
Only wears classic styles.

Quality and fit is a priority.

Attention to detail.

Pedigree women do not not follow fashion

They have less things in their wardrobe than most.

Appropriate feminine styles and not corporate.

Classy Clothes
Don't follow fashion

In general, Pedigrees stick to classic styles. This refers to hairstyles, clothes, shoes, bags, nails. They do not
follow fashion as it is considered immodest and attention seeking to do so. That does not mean that they look
dated. Their classic styles are adjusted and adapted to modern day wear by adjusting a few details such as
waistline and hemlines. However these adjustments are only very slight.

Good Quality

The clothes worn are of good quality.

If you don't have a finely attuned eye to recognize the best fabrics and construction, you'll never know. These
clothes are usually not recognizable by brands or designers because there won't be logos or labels on them.
There might be a small monogram of their initials but these are becoming rare. They buy their clothes from
stores that sell good quality clothing. It does not have to be expensive as long as the make is of quality.

These clothing are usually made of pure fabrics, 100% cotton, 100% silk, 100% cashmere etc.

Pedigree women learn where to shop from their mothers and grandmothers. They usually have less than a
handful of stores that they patron. They also are regular clients of good tailors. Most of their clothing is
tailored. That is a surefire way to guarantee a good fit and good quality with a reasonable price.

You may think that price don't matter to Pedigree women. That is true. Value is what matters. They would go
into Talbot or Ralph Lauren to get a basic white shirt (with no logos on it of course) but they would not go to
one of the big fashion houses to buy a shirt with its big logo on it.

They are prepared to spend to get the best quality. Sometimes they will shell out if they think it is worth it.
These clothes are worn for life. They are cared for meticulously, repaired and passed down. (or donated for a
charity later on).

No Labels, No Logos

They don't buy brands the way others do. They appreciate fine things but that's all they are, things.

They don't need labels to help them discern quality. They already know how...by growing up with quality
around them.

They are disciplined not to buy clothing and items that are ostentatious looking. They are also disciplined not
to buy low quality in exchange for a cheap price.

They do not look in disgust at someone who is designer-clad. They treat them the same, with courtesy,
politeness and kindness. The designer-clad is simply not one of them.

Colours

Block colours are usually preferred over prints. Day time colours and night time colours are observed
religiously.
In the day, light or bright colours are worn only. Favourite day time colours are bright red, white, yellows and
light blue. Pastel yellows, pinks, blues, greens, greys are favourites too.

In the evening, darker and richer colours are worn such as navy, royal greens, purple and black.

Glamourous styles and colours are only reserved for special occasions such as silver and gold. This applies to
any clothes made with glitter or shimmery fabric, or fabric embedded with sequins or any other shiny
materials.

Attention to Detail

There is a great awareness and attention paid to detail, such as the finese of the fabric and construction.

There will be no spotmarks or stain. They also pay attention to the way it is ironed - and surely creases and
iron marks will NOT be tolerated.

Missing buttons or loose hems or strings will be fixed immediately.

If a garment is beyond repair, it is discarded and replaced.

Most people say cleanliness is next to Godliness but to the Pedigree woman, cleanliness is Godlinesss!

Their clothes are always clean and fresh, as they are with everything else, their hair, make up, nails, shoes and
bags.

Modesty

Pedigree women are modest and polite in their dressing.

They consider animal prints and sexy styles too vulgar. They are very private about their bodies but that does
not mean they do not dress in sensual styles.

The keyword here is understated.

They don't worry about competing for attention with louder women. They know that only those in the same
social class and with a trained eye can spot them, their own kind - the Pedigrees.

Lesson Recap

1.General Principles of Classy Dressing

2. Pedigree women With Classy Style

1. Don't follow fashion but stick to classic styles. That does not mean they are not fashion conscious.
Their styles are modernized by slight adjustments.
2. Wears only good quality. Good quality is found from clothes with a broad spectrum of prices from
affordable to expensive.
3. They abstain from displays of designer labels and logos as much as they can. They don't need these
labels and logos to discern quality.
4. Attention to detail such as its 'fit' and 'cut' (and quality) is more important than designer logos and
labels. Also, they pay attention to details such as how it was ironed, stains and spots and wear and
tears. They get them fixed immediately.
5. They use classy styles to identify others in their social class (though it is not the only thing. More will
be covered in this ecourse.)
6. Colours for day time and evening wear are observed.
7. They are modest and polite in their dressing. That does not mean they are boring or not sensual.

Lesson 1 Exercise
1. Read through the lesson again. Write down all bits of the lesson that caught your attention.

By writing things down (not typing), you can remember better.

2. Ask yourself, how can I apply these lessons rightaway? Write action steps.

1. I will not wear black in the daytime anymore.

2. I will change ...
3. Learn how to do a Wardrobe Edit based on these principles of classy style taught in this lesson.

Pull 'looks' (outfits) from your current wardrobe. If you feel that "you have nothing" in your wardrobe, make a
scrapbook of looks found in magazines or images (that satisfy these principles) found on online.

Immediate action allows your brain to translate ideas into reality quicker. It will be more permanent and soon
you can gain confidence and be able to do more variations of classy style on your own.

Your mind and your eye will have developed and become finely attuned to what is classy and what is not.

Create at least one

Classy day outfit

Classy evening outfit
Stick these images on your dresser or wardrobe.

The next time you go out, wear that outfit. If your friends ask you why are you so dressed up or "formal", just
say you felt like dressing up.

The more you get used to dressing up in a classy style, it will become you. No one then asks you again "why
you are so dressed up" - they just associate that style with you.

Classy Jewelry Style

A pedigree woman may have a fine collection of jewelry, most of which you'll never see. She wears simple
jewelry in the day or none at all. Her finest jewels are for special events, like a charity ball.

In the day time, she may wear stud earrings, made of precious or semi precious stones or pearls. The younger
the woman, the smaller the stud.

Occasionally you'll see a small necklace, but usually either the pair of earrings or necklace is worn by itself or
both if they are small.

Diamonds are only worn at night, with the exception of an engagement ring or wedding ring. The occasional
diamond studs earrings are acceptable too (but not too large.)

Watches are only worn in the day and not in the evening. The evening is for socializing and relaxing, and one
shouldn't be wearing a watch - it is too stressful.

Diamonds on rings may be big or small. They are usually hand-me-downs, for instance their great
grandmother's ring. The significance of the jewelry is more important that the value of the ring itself. But don't
be mistaken, most finest jewelry of the world won't be sold and can't be bought at a price. They can only be
inherited.

How This Apply To You

For many of us, we do not start collecting fine jewelry until we first get engaged. Our engagement ring is our
first fine piece.

The key to building up your jewelry wardrobe is to start small and slow. Put away extra cash for a good piece.
Learn how to identify good jewelry and hunt them down. You can get them at bargain prices. You'll be amazed
at how often Pedigree women don't pay retail prices. They get them their everyday pieces at much less, through
connections, word of mouth, secret places or by establishing a long term relationship with her jeweler.

Classy Hairstyle
Though this is not as strict as before, the traditional Pedigree classy hairstyle has differed very slightly over the
years.

Pedigree women wear their hair around shoulder length, or slightly shorter or longer than shoulder length. They
vary their hair style cuts only a little, such as having a blunt cut at the back, slight layers and the occasional
bangs. They don't have big perms, spikey hair or many layers. Their look is usually pleasant and neat. It is
neither manly or fashionable such as short boyish cuts or spikey hair. In styling their everyday hair, they keep
stray hairs out of sight and hairs away of their face.

Their hairstyle would always give a 'clear face' look. This 'clear face' is signature of the Pedigree classy style.
Hair falling down on their face or blocking one eye or getting in the way when they speak or eat is
unacceptable. They have a neat and clear hairstyle so as to prevent having to touch or adjust their hair or their
face in public. It is considered distracting and rude.

Their hair colour is natural and unaltered, though these days it is more acceptable to change the natural colour
of your hair ONLY if it looks natural, and provided you maintain your roots religiously. This usually means your
artificial colour should not be more than a couple tones lighter or darker than your real colour. Most pedigree
women keep their real hair colour a secret, if they choose to wear it a different colour. And they usually wear it
for life. They don't change hair colours just because they are bored. Period.

According to occasion, they may tie it in a low pony tail, curl their hair or wear their hair up. They will tie it in a
mid level pony tail only when they are playing sports, such as golf or tennis.

They vary their hairstyles with the same few styles. A loose but neat chignon for day time, a preppy hairband, a
low pony tail, a blown out style or a casual hair day.
They will get their hair professionally done for special events.

Classy Make up
Elegant make up is taught by her mother. Like clothes and jewelry, there are distinct daytime looks and evening
looks.

Like clothing, make up distinguishes her social class from others.

General Principles

Here are some principles of Pedigree kind of make up

Flawless - blemishes are concealed at all time. She invests in good skincare so this is not an issue. If it is, she
will get it fixed. If she has an even complexion, she uses light power or sunscreen instead of foundation.

Natural look - whether or not she is wearing heavy make up, you'll never know. She works hard to make her
look natural. She doesn't want you to be thinking or noticing her make up when you meet with her.

Eyeliner or Eye shadow - Usually not both, unless it is a dressy event at the evening. If so, she gets a make up
professional to do her make up (and hair).

Mascara always - She focuses on natural. If she has a lack of eye lashes, she'll wear natural looking extensions
of eye lashes to 'look more like herself'.

Lipstick is preferred over lip gloss, which can look like it's too much. Sheer lip balms are also a favourite.

Focus on one area - If she chooses to emphasize the eyes with a bit more drama in make up, she will go easy
on the blush, bronzer or lipstick. Vice versa.

They avoid loud colours like bright blues and pinks in all make up. That just screams working girl

Check out our elegant make up course to learn how to put on make up if you aren't familiar with using make
up.
Elegant Nails
The Pedigree woman usually gets her nails done weekly at a nail salon.

They are kept fairly short, and only in three styles. Completely clear, classic red or french manicure and
pedicure.

The red is often match to their favourite red lipstick colour. You'll often find the same red in their clothes,
shoes and bags (if they are red).

Shoes
Like everything else, the classy style is...classic.

The Pedigree woman has a few basic styles of shoes and you'll see her wearing the same ones over.

They will not be too high and are usually closed toes, like the classic pump.

For day time, they usually wear a neutral low heel pump that is a bit more casual than the classic black pump.

In the summer, a good leather pair of sandals is worn.

What to remember about the classy style of shoes

Usually closed toe (i.e. your foot is covered).

Low to medium heels

Sandals only worn in the summer

Good quality shoe, the finest, the best

Extremely high heels are avoided because they break the elegant posture.

A few good pair of shoes to mix and match.

For their favourite outfits, they sometimes have their shoes handmade to match their outfits or their
bags.

Bags
Usually small and compact.

They regularly upkeep their bag and do not let their junk accumulate.

General principle to remember about bags: the smaller the bag, the more elegant and formal. The larger the
bag, the more casual and less elegant.

They are disciplined to keep only what they need in their purse. They are not your typical 'just in case' folks.
I'm not sure why.

Again, they choose their handbag carefully. Fine and long lasting, matching to their clothes, can be used often.
And it has to cannot look flamboyant and showy.

The minimum styles of bags that they have is:

a. One summer bag - made of straw or a less structure material for warm casual days or the beach or
country.
b. One evening bag for dressy evenings
c. One everyday city bag.
Lesson Recap

1. Classy and Elegant Jewelry - small, precious, simple. Watches are worn in the day and diamonds are worn
in the evening. Pearls make good day looks.

2. Classy hairstyle shows the face clearly. It is neither too long or short. It is natural looking, neat and
clean. It is not distracting.

3. Classy make up is flawless and natural looking. Some colours are never used ever.

4. Classy Shoes are your classic pumps. They are medium to low heel and made of fine quality. Cheap
shoes ruin the classy look. Extremely high heels are never worn because they break the elegant posture.

5. There are three basic bag styles and those are all you need. Less is more.

Lesson Exercises
Jewelry Exercise

Pick out a few pieces of classy jewelry from your wardrobe. Set them aside in a separate box. Now use them
everyday.

At the same time, print out or cut out from magazines a few pieces of elegant jewelry that you are now lacking.
Stick them into a folder and this becomes your visual shopping list. Collect pictures of elegant women wearing
similar pieces of jewelry. This will give you an idea on how to wear them in a classy way.

You can accumulate good jewelry over time. Otherwise, take time to collect very good quality costume jewelry.

Take a gemstone class. This will teach you how to identify and source good quality stones as well as teach you
how to pick and find a good jeweler to make classic pieces for you. They are more afforable than you think!

Classy Hairstyle Exercise

Learn how to do a classic french twist and chignon.

Do a self analysis

Check your hair colour. Is it too unnatural?

Is your hairstyle covering your face? Neat? Messy? Too many layers? Too spikey? Aim for a classic hairstyle as
described above.

Elegant Make up Exercise

Collect looks of elegant women in magazines, especially the ones up close.

Try imitating the looks. If you have a friend who is good at makeup, ask her to show you how to do the same
look based on the pictures you've collected.

Check out our make up videos or Pedigree Make up courses.

Elegant Shoes and Bags

Throw out cheap looking bags and shoes.

Do a wardrobe edit for bags and shoes.

Slowly accumulate good ones, a couple is all you need.

Next Lesson
We will focus on speech, elegant conversations, accent and manner of talking.

A Refined Manner of Speaking

Learn the Pedigree Woman's Style of Speaking.

You can judge how much class a person has got by the way she speaks.

Speech is influenced by many things. It is influenced mainly by environment, how you were brought up (i.e. the
language your family uses), culture and your mind.

Our objective today is to analyze the way a classy person speaks and break down these factors into actions.
Actions that we can practice as exercise to form good habits of a refined, cultivated person's speech patterns.

Let's analyze these factors together.

Tone of voice
Your tone of voice must be somewhat melodious. It mustn't be too loud or soft. How do you know if it's too
loud or soft? The way to tell is the clarity of the voice. Can your friend sitting across you hear you? Check her
body language, is she leaning forward? It must be clear, but the next table must not be able to hear you.

This acceptability range varies from country to country. We should just adapt accordingly.

The tone of your voice should be a 'whole and round' sound. It should not be nasal or too high pitched.
However, the problem with people is that they don't know how they sound!

If possible, record your voice on camera, or your phone and listen to it. Can you imagine a classy person using
that voice and tone?

If you think you can't change your voice, you can. You can produce a more 'wholesome' sound but good
breathing exercises and posture. Take a singing lesson or two (or watch some free youtube videos on singing),
and you will unlearn all your bad habits of speaking through your nose.

Pace of Voice
It should be moderate and unhurried. That does not mean slow. Do not rush to get all that you want to say in.
If someone speaks before you get to say all that you want, let it go! We sometimes have a bad habit of 'trying
to get it all in'. Honestly, that's just our ego talking. People like us better when we listen. Pedigrees are great
listeners. They listen more than they speak. They avoid giving opinions unless it is invited in a lively
discussion. They know that

"It is better to keep silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt" - Proverbs 17:28.
When speaking, you should speak in a somewhat relaxed manner.

If you train yourself to speak clearly, concisely, you don't need to rush through your words. You'll be able to
express what you really need to say in only a few sentences.
It would also be much easier to have a conversation with you than a person who talks too much.

Accents
Ideally, it should be an upper class accent. This varies from culture and country. I can't tell you want a upper
class accent ... (we may differ in opinions) only you can identify these accents by paying attention to the
Pedigree class.

A upper class accent is generally - clear, smooth and precise. It is unhurried. The words are pronounced
accurately. Though the use of words is brief, slang and short form of words are not used.

If you have a strong accent, try to neutralize it by imitating the upper class accent. Buy audio books that recite
good english and listen to them daily. Imitate, imitate, imitate.

At the age of 18, Grace kelly begged for her voice tape recorder so that she can polish off her country accent.

Learning a second language will help train your mind to adopt another accent. Accent training would be much
easier.

If all fails, try to adopt a neutral international accent. It will be clear and have less intonations.

Language
"Our words reveal our refinements; they tell the discerning listener of the company we have kept; they are the
hallmarks of education and culture." Dale carnegie

In Pedigree classes, quality, finesse, education, authencity are important values. And they value the mastery of
language.

So, to be able to socialize in their circles, you must master your language so as to be able to identify with
them.

Principles of a Classy Way of Speaking

Speak in good english and in complete sentences.

Avoid vulgarities, slang and short forms.

A light happy energy and almost always positive.

How to do all of the above? Read alot.

Quotes about a Refined Manner of Speaking

Woodrow Wilson, a Pedigree "My father never allowed any member of his household to use an incorrect
expression. Any slip on the part of one of the children was at once corrected; any unfamiliar word was
immediately explained; each of us was encouraged to find a use for it in our conversation so as to fix it in our
memories."

"If you do these things (read good books), what will be your reward? Gradually, unconsciously but inevitably,
your diction will begin to take on added beauty and refinement. Gradually, you will begin to reflect someone
the glory and beauty and majesty of your companions." - Dale Carnegie

"Tell me what you read, observed Goethe," and I will tell you what you are."
Classy Conversation Pointers
The goal of this exercise is help you be more comfortable speaking with Pedigrees. Learn what to say, how to
say it, what not to say and some conversational blunders.

Pedigrees always make you feel as though the things you say are the most important thing in the world. They
are good listeners.

How do you converse like them?

Happiness and positivity is a classy personality. You don't have to jumping around with high energy to
motivate and encourage everyone around you, but the best energy and amount of 'happiness' to radiate is to
smile warmly.

If you are at a party, you must learn how to socialize elegantly.

How do to that? Learn how to do introductions, be light hearted in speech and talk to everybody for 3-5
minutes in the room, regardless whether you know them or not. You don't have to wait for them to come to
you.

Lose Class Fast! Here is What Not To Do

This applies especially if you are attending an event, a party where there is a large group of people.

1. Ask intrusive questions, "How much money do you make?", "How much does your house/dress/car/bag
cost?", "Why don't you have children?", "Why aren't you married?", "Are you seeing anyone special?", "Are
you a grandmother yet?"
2. Give advice. Instead, respond with, "I'm sure you know what to do best."
3. Gossip.
4. Complain.
5. Talk negatively in a very unkind light i.e. 'B***h about someone.
6. Dump your problems on one person.
7. Talk about your problems.
8. Speak loudly.
9. Yell.
10. Laugh loudly.
11. Scream (whether in horror or in excitement).
12. Air dirty laundry or tell embarrassing stories.
13. Say shocking things
14. Tell dirty, sexist or racist jokes.
15. Be too opinionated.
16. Give your opinion for everything.
17. Be too longwinded.
18. Interrogate someone with your endless questions.
19. Interrupt!
20. Pretend to know something that you don't

Lesson Recap
1. Grow awareness of your tone of voice. Is it of a refined person? If not, adjust it.

2. Are you speaking too fast? Your pace of voice should be unhurried and somewhat relaxed.

3. Accents - What does your accent say about you?

4. Language - we have to make a conscious effort to master our language and make it a habit to continue
cultivating our language skills.

5. Review the conversation pointers again. Don't lose class the minute you open your mouth.

Lesson Exercises
Change the Way You Speak

To increase awareness of the way you speak, take a video recording of how you speak.

Talk as though you are talking to a friend. Chat, laugh, giggle, talk excitedly, pretend you are complaining or
listening to her talk about her problems. Make an introduction of a friend to a friend.

Notice your head movements, are they still or bobbing? Notice your lips, are you a lazy lip speaker? Do your
lips move? Do they move too much?

Are you too excited? Do you think you need to speak more calmly?

Video Exercises

As you go through these exercises, do not have a judging, negative way of 'scolding' yourself when you see
what you don't like. Awareness is the first step of progress! Just go about these exercises nonchalantly.

Do you have someone whom you admire the way they speak greatly? Get them on video and watch them many
times over. This method of imprinting will seep into your subconscious and your manner of speaking will
become like them.

Are you able to learn a new language?

Learning a new language helps increase your awareness of your accent and polish your original accent to
become a finer one.

Otherwise, you can always buy cds or tapes of accents you like and listen to them repeatedly.

You can also hire a voice coach to do accent training.

Next Lesson
We will be analyzing Gestures and elegant body movements!

Thank you for reading 'A Refined Manner of Speaking'!

Classy Mannerisms
Manners and Mannerisms will refer to gestures, posture, poise, body language and the manner or relating to
people.

Just by gestures alone, one can tell if a person is refined and cultivated or not.

The reason why we want to 'smooth out' our gestures, mannerisms and behaviour is because we want to be
better communicators. We communicate not just by words, but how we say it. Little jiggly movements are
distracting. Sudden jerks or rushed, panicked movements works against the impact of your words.

Have you ever wondered why some women are able to be poised at all time?

Do you think they are conscious of their posture?

How ever did they get that way?

The strangest thing for me to figure out whether having elegant gestures and mannerisms is because of family
culture or a result of character development through discipline and education. Maybe both.

Have you noticed how well behaved Pedigree children are? They also grow up to become well behaved adults.

Their use of language is precise and elegant and purposeful, as well as the way they move, fluid, graceful and
unhurried.

How we obtain similar grace and poise?

First, we have to go back to the mind. Your thoughts.

Thoughts?

Napolean Hill once said,

"Watch your thoughts, for they become words.

Watch your words, for they become actions.
Watch your actions, for they become habits.
Watch your habits, for they become character.
Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny."
Therefore, graceful and classy mannerisms is out of thoughts which become words and actions then habits.

Discipline your mind to have calm, relaxed thoughts. This will result in possessing a unrushed and unhurried
manner.

How else not to rush? Plan your time well and don't overload your schedule.

The Pedigree crowd also has an great sense of self control. This is the result of years of character development
through the pursue of excellence in sports, education, music and the arts. Training and excelling in every one
of these areas require heavy commitment, patience, making many mistakes and learning from them, humility
to learn and get through defeat ... before emerging champion.

In this manner, you'll seldom see them yelling, losing their temper, throwing nasty fits and tantrums or getting
into trashy fights.

Their behaviour is always calm and civil.

I also notice one very inspiring habit of the Pedigree woman (or man). The ability to control her thoughts and
keep them positive. She will not allow herself to get melodramatic with her thoughts. Some people pray, go to
church, read a good book or meditate to keep things in perspective.

"The problem is to keep the monkey mind from running off into all kinds of thoughts," - Lee Kuan Yew, when
he describes he mediates "Ma Ra Na Tha", which means 'Come to me O Lord Jesus' in Aramaic.

Classy Mannerisms When It Comes To People

Just as money and class is not the same, Manners and Etiquette is not the samething.

Most people have manners, but what is the distinguishing 'type' of manners that Pedigrees have that
particularly stand out?

In this case, I refer to manners as both manners as we know it, 'how to be kind', and manners such as 'manner
of speaking' or 'carrying oneself'.

I've highlighted a few.

What are Classy Manners?

First of all, they know that happiness is the classy personality. They would not turn up at a social event looking
sour, grumpy, sick or tired. They are usually smile brightly and engage in light hearted conversation. They
understand how a bad mood affects other people and so they make an effort to be happy. Like everyone else,
they go through hard times but you may never know about it.

Another admirable characteristic is how they have the same manner of speaking and behaving to everybody
from VIPs to waitstaff.

They do not necessarily change their manner nor save their best manners for people they like.

At a young age they are taught that social classes exist, but they must not treat anyone differently.

"Mama taught me that social hierarchies exist, but we must not treat people differently according to their
position in society." - Lee Weiling

Also Pedigrees believe that feelings of a person is more important than materials. So if you spilled orange juice
on her expensive white coat, she'll tell you that it's not a problem at all and that her dry cleaners are used to it
(as she spills on herself 'all the time'.)

Etiquette is not formally taught, as most people think but children are certainly taught not to be showy
because it is vulgar to do so.

They do not ever, try to impress.

Specific Gestures

Pedigree women are usually, or at least appear to be

Calm, composed, fluid, unrushed and unhurried

Poised but not stiff

I also notice Pedigree mothers correcting their little daughters on the right posture of sitting and standing.
Disciplined is enforced at a young age. They are trained to be still and seldom left to their own devices to run
around.

Similarly, we should always look for ways to improve our posture. Exercises likeballet and yoga help
tremendously. Doing these exercises will not only strengthen your core to help yourself hold up and breathe
better, you'll sleep better too. The increase in body awareness engages your muscle memory, so eventually
good posture and fluid graceful movements become natural. Audrey Hepburn, who had possibly the most

Posture tells the world how to treat you. - Ginie Sayles

With good posture, you are positioning yourself for greater self confidence, beauty and for a better life. You
feel good about yourself. You start to have more faith in yourself. The image you project outwards is
internalized.

When you have more time, read further about elegant poise and gestures.

Little Bad Habits and Gestures To Avoid

Any rushing motion causes panic and disarray both in what you are doing and in your thoughts. Eventually
nothing really gets accomplished the way you want them to. However, some of us never realize the futility of
rushing.

If you find yourself rushing, it is caused by sloppy thinking and habits. You'll need a greater understanding and
a more accurate evaluation of your abilities and if there is a better way of doing things, instead of spreading
yourself too thin.

A general principle of elegant movements is to keep your body somewhat still as much as possible.

If moving your arms, keep your arms close to your side and move from the elbows. This is just a guideline -
check yourself in the mirror to see if it looks awkward.

Similarly, you should keep your legs closed when sitting, and position at a 'slant' angle. These days, sitting
crosslegged is acceptable though the former way of sitting is more elegant.

If you are laughing, giggling, talking or telling a joke, limit jerking body movements by keeping your body as
in a relaxed but upright position. Do not be the knee or back slapping or hand clapping girl. There are other
ways to express your joy.

Beware of the forward head and neck posture in both sitting and standing positions. It is caused by too much
sitting and the lack of ergonomics.

Never ever run or be seen running, unless you are playing sports or doing exercisesfor fitness.

The Classy Mannerisms Training Process

Relearning and developing new habits for classy mannerisms may take years. So we have to tell ourselves to be
a little patient.

But congratulations! Awareness is the first step. These thoughts become actions and soon they become habits.

Another way to get this into your subconscious by watching classy mannerisms of women on videos. If you
watch it often, you will start imitating them without knowing it!

For further self analysis, use a video camera to record your movements and study them. This process is called
self-editing, which actors and actresses do all the time which is probably way many of them have elegant
