management. This subject has been following ever since last year in Oasis: Character
Education Class. So, it wasn't a new topic for me; however, it is helpful to review and reflect
When Mr. Wilson, the counselor, came in to talk to us about college, I learned there are
requirements in order to graduation from YISS. After listening to his presentation, I thought
of how my four years in high school will be efficiently used, well-enough for myself to be
able to go into a college that I am picturing in my head. So, I began teachers in different
subject for advice about my future years and my only conclusion that I made was I would
take AP biology either in my sophomore or my junior year. Also, Ms.Hughes lesson on note-
taking skills highlighted that we should write our notes with symbols and keep them short.
After her presentation, I came home and checked my style of writing notes. I figured it was
wordy and lengthy; therefore, for my next biology test, I decided to give some change and
insert symbols and keep the length to the minimum but with the information to the maximum.
I figured visually it is simpler and easier to memorize the content. Basically, note-taking
skills take up 50% of your test result. Also, during the test I look over the content before
doing the test. I check how many questions there are in total and what the short essays are
looking for. I take my time and come back to difficult questions later, which I don't rush, but
use the whole given test taking time usefully to the level where I am confident after taking
the test.
The time management project has benefit me because before I do any activity, I set up
exact times when I am going to do what, so that I don't waste any useful time. I calculate the
amount of sleep I will have each night and the time I will wake up. Truthfully, after coming
form volleyball practice, I come home so late that I don't know how I will finish all my
homework assignments and study for tests; however, once I sit down and grab a piece of
paper and pen to jot down estimated time for each paper, I realized homework doesn't take

any longer than I thought it would. Since, I am fully focused on my work. Afterwards, I know
that I can go to sleep with no thoughts of I didn't finish this or that, what am I going to do, but
In the future, I think I will surely need skills to adjust to new environments, because
going to college means new school, new people and a new country. Also, most importantly in
college I won't have my family members there with me, which I am alone to make friends
and get to know the environment I am in. Lastly, plagiarism a topic that I am still not
confident about because once you are caught doing; there are severe consequences that Nicole Lee 1/27/11 11:51 PM

follow. Ms.Kolnik helped me understand what plagiarism is and how we can prevent
ourselves from doing plagiarism. In the past, I have seen people have in school suspension
due to plagiarism; however, I never knew exactly how plagiarism was evaluated. I learned
teachers have programs to detect plagiarism, which I never knew before. So, now I tried
practicing once to prevent myself by reading an article and writing an essay. Then, asked my
brother if my writing has exact same parts with the article. I am planning to use this
