INTRODUCTION
Medical, Dental and Optical Mission treats underserved patients with dramatic and often
lifesaving results by providing medical services, medicines, supplies, training and education to
communities. This kind of program begins with team members’ introduction to community
leaders and members, and move through pre-arranged logistics to community hospitals, clinics,
and health posts. At these locations, team members provide a wide range of overseas medical
care to meet local needs. Clinic days are long and arduous, but immeasurably productive and
rewarding. This program also provides medical, dental and optical care to under-served and
vulnerable people through medical mission trips, and recruits qualified medical teams and offers
short-term assignments for volunteer doctors, dentists and other health care professionals as well
as non-medical volunteers to conduct medical clinics in areas where healthcare is limited or
difficult to obtain. The purpose of this program is to achieve long term and self-sustaining
healthy communities where extreme poverty and lack of basic healthcare and education are a
problem. We believe that through spiritual healing and preventive care a healthy community can
enable itself to withstand the challenges of tomorrow. This program will also rovide quality
healthcare programs and services to the people in a certain barangay, establish health clinics and
urgent care centers to enhance preventative care, treat illnesses and injuries and promote and
organize visiting programs of volunteers, ministers, health professionals, teachers, other
professionals and paraprofessionals to expand evangelism and health awareness.
The area chosen for this Medical Mission is in Brgy. Kumintang Ilaya in Batangas City.
With the support of the Barangay Office, he was able to use the Barangay Covered Court as the
venue. The beneficiaries of this mission reached three hundred sixty nine (369) patients with
ninety four (94) children, one hundred thirty seven (137) adults and thirty eight (38) Senior
Citizens. Those who benefited in the Dental service reached sixty seven (67), in the medical
service reached sixty three (63), while those examined and given assistance for optical
examinations reached one hundred thirty nine (139). Pharmacists distribute free medicines to
patients as prescribed by doctors during the medical mission. A venue staffed by doctors and
nurses from the Department of Health was deployed in the barangays. Brgy. Kumintang Ilaya
also received blood pressure-monitoring equipment, thermometers, medicine, and medical
supplies. Kathlyn Sanjuan, a resident of Brgy. Kumintang, was among those who lined up for
the free medical check-up along with her children. She said the medical mission was of great
help to the community, most especially to her family, who hardly have access to health care.
The purpose why we chose the Brgy. Kumintang is to help the community and the residents that
can't afford to go in hospital or clinic, through this we can develop the barangay and also for the
people.
Medical, Dental and Optical program help every members of the barangay when it comes
to their health, dental and optical problems. It aims to meet the health needs of the people in
barangay specially children and senior citizen who needed the most. Medical program giving
medicine, first aid, check up and consultation was created to provide a quality healthcare
programs and services to people in need around the barangay can benifit. To provide quality
dental services among member of the barangay to achieve optimum dental health. To provide
supportive environments for promoting oral health and to decrease dental awareness in barangay
and increase or avoid dental diseases. This program has a mission, to ensure access to quality
medical care for the resudence of Brgy. Kumintang, operating under the principle that health
care is a basic human right. Medical mission Outreach seeks to bridge gaps between the
homeless and medical communities through direct street outreach and engagement with
homeless people where they live, building relationships and trust, and offering companionship
and respect. One of the objectives of this program is to improve access to quality health care for
the homeless population by providing direct, continuous medical care on the streets, with the
goal of linking them with a primary medical home, also address the specific problems of the
homeless through a psychosocial model of care that looks at each person as a whole and focuses
on the individual’s own goals and needs. Promote health literacy, healthier lifestyles, and
general well being.
3-DAYS EXTENSION PROGRAM
Day 1 (Medical Mission)
CONCLUSION
The maker of this proposal are looking forward that after this programs end and all the
duty had fully done in Brgy. Kumintang Ilaya, residents become knowledgeable and will apply
all the tips that the speaker had shared to them during the program. They will assume that all the
residents that had given by our help will pursue to become healthy. Motivate and encourage
them/the residents to become healthy is one of the reason why they pursue to conclude this
mission of them. They want them that people will realize that they must prioritize their health
and have the knowledge to avoid bad habits, foods etc. that can ruin their health. That is why
they assume that they will make them realize the importance of knowledge for their health and
become alert always and they must learn a lot of tips, and apply it all in their life. Their Missions
are Medical, Optical and Dental, it’s all concerns about their health. They assume that after this
program many residents will be given an advice about their health problem if they have. Like in
Optical Mission, they will assume that tha participants are Senior Citizens mostly that has a
problem in their eyes. They will be given free eye glasses to those who didn't wear but needed
to. And of course, some medicines and advice that can help them to fix their eyesight problem. It
is understandable that the other senior citizens who can't attend and join the program because,
mostly they have a disease that become the barrier for them to join, for example is they can't
walk and join the crowded area anymore so, for them to be able to experience the proposed
program, some of the volunteer member will look for the patient if needed. And assuming that
most of the residents in Brgy. Kumintang Ilaya can't afford to visit a hospital and the Doctors to
check their health, this mission is surely a big help. For the children who's malnourish, babies,
pregnant women, senior citizens who’s become weak and suffer some disease. Another one is
the Dental Mission that we all know mostly children problem. Assuming that that there are
volunteer dentist to check each teeth of residents, and people that will gave some advice for
them to keep their teeth strong, white and clean. If there are many children of the barangay are
willing to have a check up of their teeth and let them know on how they can take care of their
teeth. But all in all, the maker of this proposal are really looking forward that all of the residents
will manage to practice those advise that they’ve shared and the speaker had told to them, apply
it in their everyday life and keep healthy.
And also they are expecting that this missions will end peacefully, no problems, shared
our knowledge to them that will give them idea, encourage people and accomplish their goal to
help those who’s in need without any exchange but only their cooperation and participation for
their own good.
RECOMMENDATION
To those who will continue this proposal, for Medical Mission you must provide quality
healthcare programs and services to help those who are in need and give proper assistance, aid,
relief and support to the patients. The makers of this proposal recommend you to do your
research when planning your medical mission, contact a local travel clinic or the Centers for
Disease Control for information on what immunizations and medicines you will need in the area
that you plan to visit because medical mission are a great personal journey as well as an
important necessity to the communities where people are in great need. Next is for Optical
Mission, you need to protect, preserve and improve the vision of the patients, cater the patient's
entire vision needs. You need to provide a high-quality eye care and set up with the goal of
giving the best patient experience and the finest vision care possible. Give the eye care at all
ages and treat patients with the best of your abilities. Moreover, serve patients in a courteous
manner. Lastly, Dental Mission, you need more knowledge to do dental mission well. You can
also provide more fun activities for the children so that you can encourage them to do the dental
check up. Dental checkups can also help to raise awareness about dental problems especially if it
is a serious problem. And you must promote oral health and disease prevention. Creating
treatment plans to maintain or restore the oral health of your patients. A regular dental check up
is important because they help keep your teeth and gums healthy. In addition, you should advise
the patients to have a regular dental visit at least every 6 months.
