 Once upon a time there was a little girl called Red Riding Hood. She lived with
her mother on the edge of a dark forest.

 “How nice,” said the wolf. “Off you go, then.”

 It was a fine day when Little Red Riding Hood set off, and she walked happily
along. Then she got bored and wandered off the path to look at some pretty yellow
flowers.

 So Little Red Riding fetched her cloak, and her mother put some roast chicken
and cake in a basket.

 One day Little Red Riding Hood’s mother asked her to visit her grandmother on
the other side of the forest, and take her some food because she was ill.

 Just then a large wolf stepped out from behind a tree.

“Hello, little girl,” said the wolf. “Where are you going with your basket?”

 As soon as Little Red Riding Hood was out of sight, the wolf galloped through the
wood on another path and arrived at the grandmother’s cottage well before the little
girl.

 “Just remember, though,” said her mother, “stay on the path and don’t talk to
strangers.”

 When the wolf got there, the grandmother was gone. There was a note on the
door saying, “Gone to stay with sister in village”. So the wolf crept quickly inside.

 “I’m going to my grandmother’s, on the other side of the forest,” answered Little
Red Riding Hood.
