Abstract

Indian most of the population is dependent on agriculture. However, there is also need to review
and revitalize the mechanism for updating the technology. In the upcoming years agriculture will
see major changes. The large amount of crop is getting damage in the field due to the bacterial
attacks and lack of information resources. Annually, such loss exceeds 40% in total. So, the
paper presented here suggest various ways in which a farmer can utilize on their handsets using
application called “Crop Harvest”, to assist them for relatively better cultivation and
merchandise Our proposed Crop Harvest application will provides the details about customer and
farmer and also it avoids the third party buyer problem which cause problem for farmers. Crop
Harvest is a android based application which provides information to farmers regarding different
crops and farming practices and other agricultural products. It is dynamic and interactive to take
in the feedback and other input from the end users and can guide people regarding the different
procedures that need to be adopted. This project shows a simulation of live environment which
takes different aspects into consideration like market-demanding-supply, production forecast,
fertilizer preferences etc.

1.Introduction

This agriculture app is very useful for Indian farmers and agriculture community which keep up
to date with the latest technology of agriculture. This online application provide help to Indian
farmers and fill the information gap between the rural people and Govt with rural development.
This is an Android app for Indian farmers used for agriculture which provides the latest market
rates, weather forecasting, Govt policies and schemes for farmers, news related to agriculture,
information of each soil, information about each farming product. Farmers can directly ask the
question and query to the Agriculture experts using these apps to solve their query and the
customers can buy the products directly from the farmers and can enquiry from the farmer of

each crop instantly they can ask suggestions from a particular farmer. These products are
delivered to the particular address of the customer.

1.1. Problem Definition:

This will reduce the role of middlemen who are hindering the trading sector in the agriculture.
This app is free of cost and can be accessed from anywhere and made available in
understandable language to farmers. And the data of the farmers and customers are stored in
database. This agriculture app is very useful for Indian farmers and agriculture community which

1.2.Objecive Of The Project:

This will reduce the role of middlemen who are hindering the trading sector in the agriculture.
These app is free of cost and can be accessed from anywhere and made available in
understandable language to farmers. And the data of the farmers and customers are stored in
database. In this • Our proposed crop harvest application provides better relationship between
customer and farmer.

• Our Android app is to enhance transparency in the agriculture commodity

marketplace by providing market price information, facilitating collective buying of
inputs and collective selling of produce.
• Also, we facilitate SMS service which send the crop information to their phone over
message service.
• Area based customer selection is also there in our application.
• In existing system, they use traditional farming method • Traditional farming needs

great amount of labor and various activities to go through for conducting farming.

2.Existing System:

Now a days, Indian agriculture is based on developing country. Information dissemination to the
knowledge intensive agriculture sector is upgraded by mobile-enabled information services and
rapid growth of mobile telephony. It bridges the gap between the availability of agricultural input
and delivery of agricultural outputs and agriculture infrastructure. Apart from this, they are also
useful in our day-to-day activities such as education, medical and agriculture. It explores how
Android app of agricultural services have impacted the farmers in their farming activities.

2.1. Disadvantages of existing system:

In existing system, they use traditional farming method • Traditional farming needs great amount
of labor and various activities to go through for conducting farming. farming techniques using
android application are doesn‟t done a lot quickly which brings in more profit for farmers.

• This system is very slow.

• Third party may give less amount of money for farmers.

3.Proposed system:

In comparison to the present system the proposed system will be dynamic, precise and provides
complete information related to crop production, methods, technology, tools and crop protection.
It also provides facility to chat with agriculture expert. User and technical person need to be
registered in order to access information provided by the admin. Registration provides
authentication to the user/technical. Technical expert and user can have discussion. This helps
the user to have even much more clarity about the things that they want. After student can login
to their respective profile with the help of username and password where they are updated with
crop information. If in case, admin feels that registered profile is not genuine, he can deactivate
the profile at any time.

4.Architecture:

In this application the admin maintains the whole database i.e we can store and retrieve the
information from it . The admin and Farmer has the login credentials in which the admin can
view and add the suggestions, view and add the crop cost information, he can call or message to
the farmer . Firstly the farmer needs to register and then they can login , the farmer can view all
the crop information, soil information, can ask farming suggestions, view solutions, view crop
rates, receive messages from the admin and customers.

all the information about the, soils, farming methods, and he can send the messages to the
farmers.
• Farmers need to register first and then they can login. farmers will add crop rates and
availability of the crops. He will receive the messages from the buyers.

5.Implementation And Result

Implementation is the stage of the project when the theoretical design is turned out into a
working system. Thus, it can be considered to be the most critical stage in achieving a successful
new system and in giving the user, confidence that the new system will work and be effective.
The implementation stage involves careful planning, investigation of the existing system and its
constraints on implementation, designing of methods to achieve changeover and evaluation of
changeover methods.

5.1. Explanation of key functions:

Here there are two key functions they are admin and farmers

• Admin has the login credentials and maintains the whole database and can view and add
all the information about the, soils, farming methods, and he can send the messages to the
farmers.
• Farmers need to register first and then they can login. farmers will add crop rates and
availability of the crops. He will receive the messages from the buyers.

5.3. Result And Analysis:

Farming is becoming a more time-critical and information-intense business. A push towards

higher productivity will require an information-based decision-making agricultural system.
Farmers must be getting information at the right time and place. Research in Sri Lanka recently
found that the cost of information from planting decision to selling at the wholesale market can

make up to 11% of total production costs. The study also found that information asymmetry is an
important contributor to overall transaction costs (De Silva and Ratnadiwakara, 2008). ICT, and
in particular mobile technologies, are often seen as a ‗game changer „in smallholder agriculture.
Increasing smallholder productivity and incomes, making agricultural markets more efficient and
transparent. Linking poor farmers to urban, regional and global markets improving services and
governance for the rural poor promoting and including smallholders in agricultural innovation.

6.3.Validations:
The farmer register page contains phone number in which it contains only 10 digits if it exceeds
or less than ten the it will show a pop-up message to re-enter the phone number which contains
only ten digits By this phone number of the farmer the customer can contact with the farmers if
they have any queries regarding the production of the crops. Until and unless farmers registers,
they cannot login into it.

7.Conclusion
Our Android app is to enhance transparency in the agriculture commodity marketplace by
providing market price information, facilitating collective buying of inputs and collective selling
of produce. Also, we facilitate SMS service which send the crop information to their phone over
message service. Area-based customer selection is also there in our application. This will reduce

between the rural people and Govt with rural development. This is an Android app for Indian
farmers used for agriculture which provides the latest market rates, weather forecasting, Govt
policies and schemes for farmers, news related to agriculture, information of each soil,
information about each farming product.
7.1.Future Scope:
Information technology will make a huge difference in the ability of farmers to link to markets.
It‟s already enabling local producers to supply consumers in their region, thus reducing storage
and transport costs. However, it also opens the path to access of global markets from anywhere.
This enhancement can be achieved my making further modifications keeping the approach and
techniques used for this project. We can add more information about different crops and soils. We
can build an e-commerce application where people can buy the products directly from farmers.
