ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

Having a toddler, at home is not easy specially upon making this portfolio.
Being pregnant is not easy too, at home I am mom, and wife which makes me very
busy. But I should never forget my responsibility as a student, that is why I am
very grateful to GOD ALMIGHTY for without His graces and blessings, this
would not have been possible, for giving me patience all throughout my
requirement-making during the pandemic. Having Immeasurable appreciation and
deepest gratitude for the help and support are extended to the following persons
who in one way or another have contributed in making this portfolio possible;

To my mother, Glomela for lending me her laptop and printer. My husband

Jhujhu, for supporting me financially in buying papers, and other materials. My
daughter, Maddison for somehow making my portfolio-making not boring.

To my in-laws who allowed me to use my printer and laptop using their

electricity for we do not have an electricity connection of our own.

To Sylvia J. Bernadas, PhD, our instructor in Assessment 2 and FS 5, for her

support and words of encouragement, valuable comments, suggestions and also for
giving a long period of time to make and improve not just this portfolio but also
my grades. Thank you so much ma’am. 

OVER-ALL REFLECTION

Assessment practices play an important role in the field of teaching. They not only show
what students have learned but also provides vital information as to the effectiveness of a lesson,
unit, or curriculum. A variety of assessment techniques must be used to determine student
knowledge. Involving students in the assessment process helps them see how their knowledge
has progressed and provides motivation and pride to push them on in their journey of obtaining
knowledge.
Classroom assessments can be diagnostic, formative or summative.  At the beginning of a
class, it would be useful to give students a quiz that would interpret each student’s favored
learning style. This is where diagnostic assessment comes into play.  It is important to assess
students frequently and with a variety of techniques to track progress. Formative assessments
give me the evidence of student understanding.  Summative assessments are given at the end of a
topic and show whether or not they have learned the content. Summative assessments tend to be
a more substantial product.  The created product should reflect analysis, evaluation and synthesis
of the information.  In this case, teacher will create a rubric that clearly shows the student what is
expected. All assessments must be reliable and valid. The questions or activities used in an
assessment must relate to the content that has been taught.

Field Study, on the other hand during our observation I see the different guidelines what
the teacher has used, I really feel like an elementary student because as I listen with the
discussion I appreciate the beauty of the lesson, because during in my time elementary day  I
never experience that kind of activity that has been taught. By that moment I am forced to be a
kind of educator that has a creative and more appropriate materials to be prepare, so that the
student will not be bored but instead they will learn more and has a probability to apply it in their
society. It is important to be considerate and has a heart by dealing with our students in the
future. The performance base assessment is very important for the student because he/she can
learn different rubrics assessment like they learn a particular lesson specially in music that gives
attention to the student. I notice that the teacher uses performance based assessment in music
terms. The teacher let the student arrange the notes from music scale and appreciate the
connection of words in the major song.
