A. Picture Analysis

1. The image depicts the problem of computer or gadget addiction especially

among children or teenagers. Through the advancement of science and technology,
electronic gadgets have been invented to aid people in communication, education,
work, entertainment, etc. It was supposed to make our lives easier. However, a new
problem called gadget addiction emerged wherein people became too dependent or
addicted to their phones, as shown in the picture above, which may cause some serious
problems.
2. Computer or gadget addiction impact the well-being of humans today by bringing
more harm than good to people may it be in terms of physical, mental, emotional, social,
and even the spiritual aspect. It can cause a person to neglect a healthy lifestyle and
get illnesses due to prolonged use of gadgets. His/her relationship with others are also
greatly affected. Gadgets are useful for educational purposes but may also serve as
distraction, which will worsen academic performance and learning abilities. Children and
teenagers are at risk of getting addicted or harmed from the use of gadgets more than
adults, and can produce danger for them throughout their whole lives.
3. It is important for people to study and learn about STS as an academic field,
especially in addressing the issue of gadget addiction in order to know the bad effects of
the use of these gadgets and learn how to use them appropriately without causing great
harm to people. It will help them to understand the problem and find solutions to
overcome such issues. Gaining knowledge of such issues is one step to being a better
person and teach people how to deal with the changes in our environment or society.
