PC4.1: Identify and research the existing issues of ethics impacting

the business

Following are the ethical issues which are identified that are affecting the business selected which are
as follows:

Migrant workers & Hotel companies in Dubai and Qatar

The ethical issues which are encountered in the case of hotel companies and migrant workers in
Qatar and Dubai are lack of sustainability integration and due diligence in the functions of the industry.
However, another ethical issue related to this case is that the composition of the workforce and the
statutory environment of Dubai and Qatar poses the greater complications for the hotel companies to
safeguard its human resources from the exploitation. However, these companies also provide an
unsatisfactory residential place to migrant workers and poor working and living conditions (Business-
humanrights.org, 2020).

a) What ethical issue currently affects hotel business in Dubai and Qatar?
The ethical issues which are being encountered by the hotel industry in Qatar and Dubai are the
appalling working and living conditions that are encountered by the migrant’s human resources and
other abuse activities which may have greater financial, operational, reputation and legal

consequences (Business-humanrights.org, 2020).  √ (1 mark)

c) Explain how did this non-government organization research that issue?  


This organization has reached the ethical issues by the ways of their business conduct. It has been
reported that this company does not provide a satisfactory living and working condition to its human
resource who are migrants and does not contributes towards their wellbeing. Therefore, lack of focus
on the development of migrant workers' human rights and less focus on their living and working
conditions poses significant ethical issues for this company (Human Rights, 2020). ? ( 0 marks)

In order to ensure the practices of ethical business are being exercised in the company, Carlson
Rezidor Hotel Group follows the following practices.

1. Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group ensures that the hotel complies with the principals and

guidelines mentioned by Human Rights in order to avoid any unnecessary obligations. √


2. Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group in order to conduct its business operations ensures it protects

human rights and pressures to enhance and promote human rights. √-


3. Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group conducts the staff’s assessment on each operational level

Following are the ways in which the organization can improve ethical practices and ensure a good
relationship between employee and employer

 It is important for internal departments of the company such as Finance, Human Resource and the
operational department of the hotel to adhere the policies of the company because the decisions
which are excocted within the company may be carried out the groups or the individual, but whoever
executed that decision have greater impact on the organizational culture. The executed decisions to
act ethically is determined as the moral one, therefore the human resource must select what they
perceive as the right action course. Furthermore, CSR and ethical behavior can bring greater
advantages to the company (Human Rights, 2020). 

On the other hand, non-compliance with the organizational policies may result in various penalties
from the regulatory board or executive management of the company.

The organization’s objective is to develop, create, and sustain a strong, good and strategic
relationship with its clients, guests, franchisees, clients, property owners, partners, and the financial

All the staffs of the company are expected to safeguard the data of all information which is non-public
to when they have access to their work time. All the employees must follow the code which has been

           In the organization, keeping the communication lines open is important to its success. All the
correspondence i.e. paper, electronic, etc must be factual, appropriate, properly stated and accurate

quality along with adhering to the ethical policies that define its overall business code of conduct. The
organization redefined and reaffirming these policies into its operations to assure that these policies
