Greece. Greece is very interesting country, famous for its traditions and its past.

It’s a pretty cool

country in my opinion, and I’m happy I got to make a presentation about it.

Greek’s past is hugely affected by Roman Empire and Macedonia. Greek is a very ancient country, has
many ancient buildings like Athens Acropolis and traditions carried from generation to generation.
Greeks were actually the first ones to invent Olympic Games. Olympic games is actually still a thing, and
it happens every four years. The Olympic games were invented to honour Greek gods, like Zeus. Ancient
Greeks had thousand of gods, like Zeus, Poseidon and Hermes. It was told they live on the Mountain of
Olympus. Greeks believed in mythical gods for a long time. The Greek gods are very famous nowadays as
well, and many tourists want to visit mount of Olympus. But that’s definetly not the only thing Greeks
are famous for.

Another thing Greeks are famous for, is their kitchen. Greek uses many vegetables in their plates, as well
as olive oil, fishes and meats, like lamb, rabbits and pork. The most important thing on a dish, is olive oil.
They use it almost everywhere, and they are very famous for doing so. Many greek dishes originate from
Ancient Greece. Greece’s kitchen is a very big part of their culture. They have many plates that include
fish, as they live in a warm climate, near the sea. Many fishes live there, that you would never find in the
Baltics or anywhere else.

Greeks are also famous for their traditions. Some of them may even seem weird to us, but it’s a big part
of their culture, and it’s pretty interesting as well. They have a carnival named ‘’Apokries’’, and it lasts
two weeks. The most famous carnival parade takes place in Patra. But it’s celebrated in many towns of
Greece. This carnival is believed to be invented by paganists, and it used to worship certain Greek gods,
mostly the god of feast, Dionysus.

Another pretty interesting Greek tradition, is how they celebrate Easter. Of course, most of the world’s
countries celebrate Easter, but not like Greeks. They celebrate Easter more than Christmas, or any other
holiday. During the Saturday night, just before the Sunday, everyone dresses in their best clothes and go
to church. Just before the midnight from Saturday to Sunday, priest turns off all the lights, symbolizing
the darkness. The priest then sings a psalm, and lights up a candle from the eternal flame, and
everybody passes the candle’s flame one to another. After the midnight, everyone starts celebrating,
throwing fireworks, and having a good time.

So, to sum up, I think Greece is a very interesting country, and I definetly got to know more about it
when I made this presentation.
