Tracks

A track is a

sectors each.

A cylinder is
a set of
matched
tracks.

On a hard disk, a cylinder is made of all

the tracks of the same # from all the
metal disks that make up the "hard disk".

Taking Care of Diskettes

1.Don’t touch disk surfaces: don’t touch
anything visible through the protective
jacket, such as the data access. Don’t
manipulate the metal shutter.
2.Handle disks gently: don’t bend them or
put heavy weights on them.
3.Protect it from the dust.
4.Don’t expose to excessive heat.
