THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND

Introduction
Morality from the Latin word Moralitas which means Manner, Character, and Proper
Behavior. Morality can be a body of standards or principles derived from a code of conduct from
a particular philosophy, religion or culture, or it can be derived from a standard that a person
believes should be universal. (Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org) Morality also defines principle
of concerning the distinction between righteous and erroneous behavior, and it mostly talks about
educating and apprehending genuine and unethical values.

Lack of Morality and Discipline in students has been an issue in these past few years until today,
it is also sometimes a cause of minor offenses among particular areas in some parts of Las Piñas
or even in other parts of the country and if these situations are neglected, such a dreadful offense
or a horrendous circumstances may happen if possible.
Statement of the Problem
1. What is the profile of the respondents in terms of:

a. Gender

b. Life Status / Grade Level

c. Age

2. What are the contributions that have been made by the Catholic Church through the
past years when it talks about discipline?

3. What are the problems that are being faced by individuals in terms of Moral Values
and Discipline?

4. How does the Catholic Church influenced individuals by the Catechism and Gospels
that is being taught in Mass?

5. What is the importance of the Catholic Church in educating the individuals in terms
of Moral Values?

Objective of the Study

The Study was guided by the following objectives:

1. To understand the importance of the Catholic Church in developing moral values in

students.

2. To examine the role of the Roman Catholic Church's guidance in developing moral
values among students in the perspective of selected individuals in particular areas of Las
Piñas.

3. To know the perspective of individuals in terms of the developing moral values and
discipline toward the students
Significance of the Study
The research highlights the factors of the Catholic Church's Role in developing Moral
Values and Discipline towards the students in the perspective of selected individuals in particular
areas of Las Piñas. In Particular, the study is beneficial to the following:

 For the Parents: The study would help the parents to know how to educate and discipline
their child in terms of Moral values. Not only to educate their morality but also to teach
them the way of proper living with faith in our Almighty God.

 For the Students: This study is beneficial to students it will help them to grow and
develop themselves as a noble and good citizen of the country, not only to develop
themselves as a noble and good citizen but to divert them from the immorality that they
are taking, because nowadays, some of the youths didn’t even know what they’re doing
that leads them to crime and which could even devastate their future.

 For the Government: This study is about the development of morality and it could help
the government to reduce the growing crime rate in a particular area.

Scope and Delimitations of the Study

This study will be conducted in some particular parts of Las Piñas city. It will be included
the selected individuals. This study will be only limited to finding out the perspective of
individuals in terms of Developing Moral Values and Discipline towards the students in
particular areas of Las Piñas city.

Conceptual Framework

The figure represented above is an example of conceptual framework
showing on the RCC’s role in educating moral values and discipline among
students in the perspective of individuals. The input problem shows on how the
researcher acquire the perspective of individuals and the output indicates the
results of Survey Questionnaires and Interviews that has been conducted by the
researcher in order to compose the Analyze, Conclusion and Recommendation
based on the researcher’s findings.

Review of Related Literature

 According to Mary MattheuMulwa the Roman Catholic church has played a role in
developing moral values among secondary school students in Machakos Sub – County in Kenya.
In her study, she revealed that the Catholic Church has made good performance in educating
moral values.
