existence” Most of the people including me are blinded by the fact that Nation is not actually formed by blood, races or color complexion of people, rather, by means of sharing similar cultures, beliefs, common values and morality of individuals who share the same humanity. I realized that our identity as Filipinos does not actually exists but invented by our heroes since the blood that flows among us is not pure at all, but mixed with other nationalities who colonized us long time ago. I also learned that despite the differences in the manifestation of our philosophies, we are united by the same viewpoint in terms of maritime life which we inherited from our ancestors – the AUSTRONESIANS. Moreover, I became knowledgeable about Nation that even we don’t see it as it is also defined as “imagined community” and we are unaware of it, it flows among ourselves, in our identity, passed to generation by generation. Lastly, I understand that in terms of Nationalism, in order to achieve changes and modifications in the system, changes should not be expected instantly but it should start within ourselves and do it in an acceptable and appropriate manner just like how Jose Rizal wanted it to be.
“Nationalism is an infantile thing. It is the measles of mankind.”
