COLOMBIA: A BETTER PLACE

Colombia. Known as one of the most dangerous countries in Latin

America. Some people might only know Colombia because of Pablo
Escobar, drugs, and violence; but what really is Colombia? What are
those special factors that could change others mentality and point of
view about Colombia? It is true, is a third world country, there is
violence, and much more things about Colombia that also occurs in
other countries; but Colombia is not that. Colombia have 32 different
departments, everyone with each own culture, but one country; we are
characterized because our flora and fauna, and is diverse, but also is
well-known because of the people.
Colombia is culture. Colombia is a mixture of cultures. Having 32
departments, each one with different cultural costumes, is why so
many foreigners come to visit Colombia. Colombia is not anymore our
past story or what the movies show. With our different carnivals and
cultural events, is what make us one of the most traditional but diverse
countries not just in Latin America, but maybe in the world. Everyone
should come to Colombia to discover those things by themselves, and I
am a 100% sure they will fall in love with our culture.
Colombia is flora and fauna. With 14 species and 300 types of
butterflies, Colombia is the second country with the more variety of
butterflies and also is the first one in biodiversity of amphibians.
Colombia is also famous because of our flora, including coffee, there is
so much biodiversity. In respect of flora, there are around 400.000
species of plants around the world, and more than the half of the
universal species can be found in Colombia. Also we have unique
species of flowers that can only be found in here. Our flora and fauna
also share our biodiversity in landscapes, animals, flowers and our
natural wealth.
Colombia is our people, the locals. So many foreigners can tell that
Colombian people are incredible. We are characterized because of our
happiness, our kindness and desire to move forward. When people
come to Colombia, they can tell that people make a different
environment everywhere, because we have learned how to enjoy our
country, our music, our food, our everything and to never look back to
those bad things that happened in the past. We don’t want to get stuck
in the past, that’s why we always look forward enjoying every day.
Colombia is all of that. Is culture, is flora and fauna, people and a
numberless other thing that make us the opposite of what people think
about Colombia. Everyone should come here and prove it by
themselves, but also give it a chance to change their minds and have a
good time.
