TARGET
While I observe three different classes, I will be able to identify applications of the
principles of learning in the teaching-learning process.
MAP:
1. Observe one class and make a list of the assessment methods used by teacher.
2. In your list, classify assessment methods as to conventional and authentic or
alternative.
3. Describe how each assessment method was used, including your personal
observations
4. Confer with your FS teacher your assessment list.
5. Reflect on your experience.
TOOLS:
As you visit school and observe assessment practices, document your observation. For your
pen and paper test items, customize a table of specification, and prepare the test material
based on the prescriptions of the school where you do class observations.
- Yes, the teacher used variety of assessment methods such as oral questioning,
group activities, performance based assessment demonstration strategy and
observation. These assessment methods are relevant to both teacher and students in
the learning process. The assessment methods are used to measure the students
learning abilities, their knowledge, skills, their strength and weaknesses. This will help
the students to improve their own learning. The use of assessment methods will also
help the teacher to determine the effectiveness of their instructional materials and the
strategy of teaching they used.
-Yes, the expected students’ learning behaviors indicated in the objectives were
properly and appropriately assessed through the assessment method used by the
teacher. Those assessment methods are effectively utilized by the teacher to attain the
intended learning outcomes. Indeed, the students were able to understand the lesson,
performed properly the given tasks in their hands on activity.
Reflection:
Write your personal reflection of thoughts and feeling about the importance in the
used of appropriate assessment methods in the classroom, including what students and
teachers can gain from appropriate assessment tools.
Batulat, Marie C.
- As a future educator there are lots to consider in assessing students like a valid
assessment tool matches with learning targets, considering the multiple intelligence and
varied learning style, assessment of learning must be done in a variety of ways. It
should never be used as punishment and it should free from any discrimination, biases,
and stereotypes or subjectivity.
Mahinay, Mailyn A.
Patpat, Jean S.
- Proper use if assessment tools are very important to both workers and
teachers. Both traditional and authentic assessment tools. Because in traditional
assessment student and teachers can get feedback from the assessment results that is
necessary for appropriate intervention to achieve the learning targets. Also the authentic
or alternative assessment method. This method also give feedback to both learners and
teachers to how much the teaching and learning is effective. Proper used of
assessment method has a big impart to achieve the learning targets of the class. Proper
used of assessment tools enhance and develop the student knowledge and skills that is
useful in development of each individual, in cognitive and practical way and to be a key
of effective and productive individual in the future.
