Quiz No.

2 - Sampling

A public administration student wants to know the level of satisfaction of Sangguniang


Kabataan members on the leadership and administration of the Federated SK Officials of a local
government unit. He/She decided to just consider a sample to save time, money and effort. Table
1 shows the distribution of the SK members in each barangay.

a. Choose a probability sampling technique that he/she can apply in his/her research. Enumerate
the steps how he/she can go about the technique. (20 points)

Stratefied Sampling

Stratified sampling because this technique ensures that the strata in the population is fairly
represented in the sample and this technique is can be perfect for his/her research because he/she
only wants to know the satisfaction of the Sangunian Kabataan members.

b. Recommend a non-probability sampling technique that he/she can employ and enumerate the
steps (20 points).

Qouta Sampling

This sampling technique would be the perfect choice that I could recommend in his/her research
because first the researcher wants to save some time, Second the researcher wants to save some
money and third he/she wants to save effort which basically the qouta sampling technique had.

b. Determine the sample size needed using the Slovin’s formula and the Lynch, et. al. formula.
(20 points)

c. Determine the sample size needed from each barangay. Construct Table 2 considering the
Slovin’s formula (30 points) and Table 3 for the Lynch, et. al. formula (30 points).
