Profile: Sbusiso “Bheshwana” Mkhize

Sbusiso Mkhize, affectionately known by his artist name ‘Bheshwana’ hails from
Hlwane, a small village in Nkandla in the province of Kwazulu-Natal.

Bheshwana is determined to stand up and raise the banner of Nkandla to the

mast.

Bheshwana today, a full fledged professional maskandi artist relates his humble
beginning, almost in soliloquy.

That marked the beginning of the journey outside the mountainous Nkandla,
stopping over in Pietermaritzburg, for a good period of three (3) years, for
schooling purposes. The journey was to be continued to the city of gold, as the
urge for seeking greener pastures grew from day to day.

In 2004 Beshwana arrived in Johannesburg. He immediately joined the

iSicathamiya group, African Music Bombers, under the legendary leadership of
Felix Mahlase Sbisi.

As early as 2010 Beshwana had already produced his ever first CD, Iyashisa
Induku, that seemed to have rocked the maskandi genre. Iyashisa Induku
reached the top twenty (20): Ukhozi FM.

In the meantime Bheshwana has released a total of three CDs;

1. Iyashisa Induku
2. Umjolo
3. Amabala

The three (3) CDs cover and sum up Bheshwana’s musical journey; arrival and
introduction into the Maskandi genre (Iyashisa Induku), mourning the dropping
of the societal values (Umjolo) and adaption and adoption to change
(Amabala).

In Amabala (Changing of Colours), Bheshwana’s maturity comes to the fore;

Mbuzeni Mkhize, one of our promising Maskandi ambassador, a globetrotter of

note, after touching base with India he will soon land in the land of the unlimited
opportunities, the United States of America, where he will be recording a
collaborationist song with Robyn Rihanna Fenty, the R&B queen in November
2019.
