AC system.
A main duct travels along the entire length of
the hotel which then branches out at each
floor.
The hot water for the hotel is generated from
the waste heat of the AC plant.
The refrigerant used is free from CFC.

WATER MANAGEMENT
Water Fixtures used in kitchen
• Potable water is not utilised for landscape, irrigation or air
conditioning plant cooling towers. This requirement is met
through grey water/STP recycled water. The waste water of the
hotel is recycled and further utilised for flushing purposes. This
is enabled through dual –supply plumbing line.
• Drinking water treatment : Water is strerilised in the UV ray
filter and passed through a central chilled water system for
cooling. This has helped to eliminate the need of installing
eight water coolers in various outlets
• Ground water recharge and roof water harvesting is also
incorporated in the hotel. During the monsoon , daily flush
water and cooling tower requirement is met through roof
water harvesting and subsurface collection and pumping
All toilets are water-efficient and
meet low-flush standards with a
dual flush system of capacities
three or six litres per flush
All taps are either installed with
low flow restrictors/aerators or
sensors. Shower heads and
urinals are equipped with flow
control devices and timer- based
sensors respectively.

WASTE MANAGEMENT

• WASTE WATER -MELUHA –THE FERN recycles its waste water. The
hotel sewage system is connected to the main treatment plant of the
Hiranandani gardens where with the latest technology ,waste water is
treated and then reused for air conditioning ,gardening and for new
construction activities within the complex
• An easily accessible area that serves the entire building is dedicated to
the separation he collection and the storage of the materials for
recycling including paper corrugated cardboard ,glass ,plastics and
metals to facilitate waste reduction at the source
• SOLID WASTE -The hotel manages its solid waste by segregating it
in all the kitchen of the hotel. Four separate colour codes bins : black,
white green , red are used for separating the waste into wet, dry,
recyclable and non-recyclable
• FOOD WASTE -The food waste or wet waste is sent out to
piggeries to be recycled and the dry garbage is given out to a recycler
for recycling
