ONLINE ACTIVITY 1

A. Give your insights on the four (4) NSTP SLABS

EDUCATION – every people has the right to have education, but not everyone has money to
afford the expenses while in an academic environment. Some people sacrifice their education to work
for their family due to poverty. With these kinds of projects held by institutions, those people that
cannot afford to have basic education can now learn from the seminars, workshops, or tutorials that will
be conducted. Out of school youths and adults are encouraged to participate to the said event to
enhance their skills and knowledge that they can apply to their lives.

ENVIRONMENT – in this sector, people not only in the adopted community, but also in all the
communities in the Philippines should help hand in hand to address environmental problems.
Communities need to be aware in the fact that the world’s condition is not improving. The university is
here to help the community in what to do in order to help the increasing problem related to global
warming. The university has an important part for disseminating information for the people to be more
aware of what is happening to the world.

RECREATION – this promotes the teamwork and other leadership related skills of the
community and having fun at the same time. Recreational programs can also be educational. In this way,
the youth will have an enjoyable time discovering new things that they will apply later on in their lives.

AWARENESS – people should be aware of what is happening in their surroundings. The

institution is here to disseminate information on how to be aware in issues that affects everyone. This
sector may also help finding a solution to the problems that humanity is currently facing.

B. What community project would you propose on each NSTP SLAB? How do you think the community
will benefit from it?

-EDUCATION SLAB-

In the educational slab, I would like to propose a project that would teach out of school
youths first aid knowledge. This is very helpful especially in life and death situations and is somehow
easy to teach.

In this project, we will teach out of school youths the basic skills in first aid and how to properly them
during emergency. We will also be giving out bandages and whistles.

-ENVIRONMENT SLAB-

In this slab, I would like to propose a seminar regarding proper waste disposal and
segregation. Although this is a very common seminar, I believe this is still relevant to the current times.
We have been destroying Earth— and we already destroyed a tenth of it.
destroyed-a-tenth-of-earths-wilderness-in-25-years-study) This project's aim is to provide sufficient
knowledge in waste segregation. This should teach them how to separate recyclable wastes from non-
recyclable wastes, and to avoid using plastic materials. This project also aims to provide trash bins in the
community that separates paper & recyclable materials, biodegradable materials, and non-recyclable
materials.

-RECREATION SLAB-

In this slab, I would like to propose a fun games and activities for the children that would
make them forget their problems for a while. The games would be mostly team games to help them
develop camaraderie. After the games, there will be a storytelling portion; this will be consisted of
stories that has a moral lesson at the end.

-AWARENESS SLAB-

For this slab, I would like to propose a seminar about the basics of politics, and why
people should criticize the government. The recent election has disappointed me so much because some
of the elected officials were either proven corrupt or has no concrete and plausible platform at all.
Although it would be easier to point the blame on the middle to lower class, they are not to be blamed,
but this country's poor education system. In this project a seminar about the basics of politics will be
held and some videos and documentaries, if possible, will be shown. There will be freebies at the end of
the seminar to entice the people into attending.

C. Make a reflective statement for the following components.

a. Engineering and Health Support and Delivery System (200 words)

This SDS involves students in community work in terms of engineering expertise and
health services. Students are planning and implementing simple projects related to the field that benefit
partner communities. There will be a two-term duration for these simple projects. Students pursuing
this SDS will serve all partner communities of MAPUA-CWTS. EHSDS shall include: ESDS CHE-CHM, BT,
ESDS ME, ESDS CE-AR, ESDS IT, ESDS EE-ECE-COE, HSDS NURSING, and other EHSDS shall be
implemented in accordance with the needs of the community. Each EHSDS are going to render services
to accommodate all partner communities on alternative schedules. This is going to help participants
from healthcare and engineering disciplines identify healthcare challenges that could benefit from a
system engineering perspective, including effectiveness, safety, and efficiency. Participants assessed
aspects of healthcare culture and practice through examples and lessons from within and outside the
healthcare sector. Students are going to plan and implement simple projects that can help the
community with which they will be immersed, this project must be in line with their line of study. The
EHSDS is going be implemented in accordance with the needs of the society, the EHSDS will
accommodate the society that needs the specific project in their community.

b. Learning Support and Delivery System (200 words)

The ALEAP-LSDS is available from the adopted communities of Mapúa University to out-
of-school youth and adults. The program aims to help non-school youth and adults continue and
complete their education. Program recipients who are unable to participate in formal education can
acquire important knowledge and skills for their daily lives. The lessons are put into practical application
for better appreciation of the subjects. A classroom-based approach is used to create an atmosphere
similar to that of a regular classroom session. As far as the Institute's contribution is concerned, it
includes enhancing institutional support materials including basic pre-school literacy skills, alternative
learning systems for out - of-school youth and adults, math and science tutorials, and extended student
services. This SDS involves students in community-based literacy programs. This SDS develops a
compilation of primary and secondary review pamphlets, provides a review of one hundred items per
level, and supports teaching managers in their class session with the learners. There will be two terms to
perform these simple activities. Understudies that search for this SDS will serve all accomplice networks
of MAPÚA-CWTS. Students will plan and implement simple projects that can help the community with
which they will be immersed, this project must be in line with their line of study.

c. The Socio-Civic Support and Delivery System (200 words)

The Socio-Civic Support and Delivery System (SCSDS) aims to implement student-based
initiatives that build, enhance and maintain community-to-self relationships through broader
community survey data and public awareness or information distribution projects on well-being, natural
environment, security and security. This SDS involves students in socio-civic programs working in the
community. Some of the programs include: community survey; health awareness programs or
dissemination of information on health, environment, safety and security and other relevant issues;
youth recreation and support group for EHSDS and LSDS. One partner community will be served by
students pursuing this SDS. They are acting as MAPÚA-CWTS ambassadors. Building relationships
between MIT and the communities and strengthening relationships. Students pursuing this system will
have only partner community because they will act as MAPÚA-CWTS representatives. Their goal is to
build and strengthen the MAPÚA-University-Communities relationship. This system is responsible for
Community Survey and Profiling and Development of Projects. This SDS can be assigned to support the
EHSDS (Engineering and Health Service and Delivery System) and LSDS (Learning Support and Delivery
System) support groups. The selected community will be evaluated according to their needs through this
program. Students can assess the issues facing the community and what assistance they need. SCSDS
will be the one that performs profiling and surveying to identify what kind of community the students
will encounter and how safe the area was.
