ONLINE ACTIVITY 2

1. Discuss the importance of community survey and profiling. (250 words)

One of the importance of community survey and profiling is to update
the institute in certain matters like population, crime rate, and the
sanitation of the adopted community. This will help the institute to be more
prepared when the institute will deploy the students to do surveys and
community services. Also, one of its importance is to have a quantitative
data to perform calculations and predictions for the future project. Last
important feature of survey and profiling is it helps the institute assess the
condition of the chosen community. Results of surveys provide a snapshot
of attitudes and behaviors about your target population, including ideas,
views and remarks. This useful feedback is your baseline for measuring
and setting a benchmark for comparing outcomes over time. In addition,
surveying a community can help the institution that is helping to provide
the needs of the adopted community. In this way, the institution will not
have a hard time in assessing the situation in the adopted community.

II. PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This project aims to teach the people of the adopted community

(especially children) to know the impacts of washing hands in general.
This project intends to teach people good hygiene to lessen the cases of
diseases like diarrhea. The author of this project believes in “prevention is
better than cure”, because once you prevent the bacteria or other kinds of
diseases from entering your system, you will lessen the possibility of
getting sick. Getting sick nowadays is impractical due to medical expenses
and lack of medical support and knowledge.

PROJECT PROPOSAL OUTLINE FORM (PPOF)
Effective Date: July 18, 2018

This will be implemented through a seminar and a catchy jingle

about how to wash hands properly. The class will also give away some
hygiene kits to children for them to use.
III. PROJECT RATIONALE

Nowadays, diseases can be deadly for everybody. Diseases will

greatly affect the families that are affected by poverty. Most of the
children are playing with soil, plants, and stray animals and after they are
done playing, the children will forget to wash their hands before eating.
This is where diseases come from. By washing hands with clean water
and soap, it can reduce diarrheal disease-associated deaths up to 50%. By
preventing diseases, they will reduce their expenses from medical needs.
As a student studying CWTS, we must be aware for the health status of
the people. The lesser the sick people are in the community, the more
productive that community will be.
IV. PROJECT BENEFICIARIES

This project will benefit all the locals in the adopted community,
especially the children. Children tend to be sweaty, dirty, and prone to
diseases that will affect other children too.

V. PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The clean and orderly environment is perhaps the most ideal kind
of community one wishes for. However, some people find it difficult to maintain it, even
though everyone hopes for it to happen. Some people throw trashes everywhere, while
others ignore the garbage along the pavements, and leave them be. Such people in
every community exists, and one of the ways to combat against this is to keep them
reminded of the importance of cleanliness through a talks and seminars.

The problem of waste management has been rampaging

nowadays; it is pretty evident in most communities here in the Philippines. People tend
to forget the essence of cleaning, but they do know that cleanliness is an important
factor to consider in the development of the community. With this in mind, the students
came up to a conclusion that, in order for them to understand that cleaning is a central

part of community and individual development, one must be reminded about it through
a seminar, thus, the “Oplan Kalinisan para sa Kinabukasan” was formed. This project
aims to teach the community the essence of cleaning and its lasting effects in the
progression of the community.
Seminars regarding cleanliness and its significant impacts to the
society are massively necessary, since some people tend to forget their duties and
responsibilities to maintain cleanliness. In fact, the success of this project follows
various benefits, including the prevention of deadly diseases and aesthetic beauty of
the community, as Leilano Junio (2018) stated on his article "DOH urges village execs
to help in clean-up drive" posted on pna.gov.ph. In addition, Jessel Joy (n.d.) on her
blog "Environmental Sustainability: Clean-Up Drive" stated that the benefits of these
kinds of projects protect the world from Global Warming and Climate Change. It is,
indeed, necessary to encourage everyone to participate with all these benefits at hand.

VI. PROJECT RATIONALE

The main objective of the project aims to the barangay youths and
families around the community in Pandacan. The people in the Pandacan
community will be educated about the 3 R’s (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle).
This project aims to ensure the preservation of a clean environment for
the community by equipping its people with knowledge to combat against
dirtiness and disorderliness, whilst acting as an alternative source of
income, where even recycling trash (i.e. plastic bottles) could even get the
recycler paid. But as much as all this sounds great, the project could also
promote waste management, to set an example for the world to see, that
even a few students could help a whole community on proper waste
management, with this, it could also set an example for future
generations to look up to. A future where people finally cleans the world.
IV. PROJECT BENEFICIARIES
Document No.: FM-SO-29-00
PROJECT PROPOSAL OUTLINE FORM (PPOF)
Effective Date: July 18, 2018

The beneficiaries of this project proposal mainly are the residents

of the barangay because the seminar will help them be enlightened about
the having a cleaner environment. Also, this project proposal will help the
barangay to increase its funds because items that can be recycled can be
sell to a decent price. The target participants are about 20-30 youths in
the community, ranging from the ages 10 – 18 yrs. old.
V. PROJECT OBJECTIVES

 Help the barangay to maintain the cleanliness by teaching them

proper guidelines and procedures
 Show them the proper waste management and segregation
especially on the youth by a seminar
 Change the way they see the community from just a mere
community to a precious jewel that must be taken care off and
protected for the future generations to come.
