The students of STEM 12-4P HEA presented commercials connected to health on August
30,2018. This is the first time that I’ve had an opportunity to observe and give feedbacks about
commercials so I look for some tips on how am I going to judge other groups’ commercials. According to
Forbes (2018), in judging a presentation, observe if there is a great nonverbal communication. This
includes posture, smile, facial expressions and eye contact. The characters must put themselves in the
situation for them to convey the emotion to the audience and they should speak with confidence. As a
reviewer, I do not want to be careless and my objective is to express my responses which is clear as well
as direct.

The group no.1 presented “Bye-bye Pimples/Pimple Spray Remover”. Their commercial is
entertaining and funny. In fact, they caught the attention of the audience. Olson (2015) said that when
you have your audience laughing, you have their attention. As stated by Mata (2018), one of their
weaknesses is that the audiences cannot hear some of the lines because the voices of the characters are not
loud enough. I also cannot hear the conversations between the two main characters who are Clinton Perez
and Therese Pestaño. Another problem is the blockings or the positions of the characters. There are times
that we can’t see their faces. I’ve also seen that characters are being distracted by the audience.

Another group, which is group no.3, presented a commercial and their product is Biosep. One of
their strengths is that they emphasized their product by having a song at the last part and the story from
their commercial is also good. In my own opinion, characters, especially the beggars from the
commercial, lack emotion and facial expression. It is a sad story but I can't feel the emotion from the
characters because some are laughing. And according to Cahapay (2018), characters' voices are also not
loud. There are some scenes that the characters aren't facing the audience and we can't hear what they are
talking about. I am also a little confused about the story since I can’t hear the conversations between the
beggars and the applicant.

Lastly, the group no. 4 performed the “Morning Dew” commercial. According to Fajardo (2018),
the flow of the story is good. They also emphasized their product at the last part. But the main characters,
Neo Cahapay who is the father and Gem Esguerra who is the daughter, are lacking of facial expression.
The story is tragic but we saw that Neo was laughing in the scene wherein he fell on ground because of
his illness. And when Neo died in that commercial, Gem lacks emotion and facial expression to do her
part as a daughter. As stated by De Guzman (2016), facial expression plays an important role for
communicating and conveying messages especially when it comes to a play. Blockings at the last part of
the commercial is also one of their weaknesses.

In conclusion, all of the groups executed their commercials well. The common strength is that
they caught the attention of the audience and the common weakness is about the facial expressions and
blockings of the characters. And the weaknesses in their presentation will be a stepping stone for them to
do better next time.
