Hi my name is

crystal Salazar
I am a student at Grand Canyon University
Back in the day
I am the second oldest of six children. So I raised and taught all of my younger siblings.I knew
since I was about the age of 7 that I wanted to be a teacher, however it was not till I was 26 that
I decided to make my dreams come true. Teaching is a hard job and it is not for just anyone. I
decided to become a teacher several years after becoming an instructional assistant. It was at
that time that I figured out teaching was what I wanted to do. I have always had people who look
to me for guidance and support. I knew early on what I was going to be when I grow up. School
was always fun for me and though I struggled in certain subjects it always can easy and natural
to me.
Teaching now
A lot has changed since I was in grade school. Back then there was only one method of teaching no
adjust to modifying. All children learned the exact same way. The whole idea and concept has now
changed. People are now aware that every child learns differently what fits one may not always fit
another.
Then now

And
My favorite quote
“ Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts“

Winston Churchill

This is one of my favorite quotes because it reminds me that even if we fail at something ten
times all we need is courage to continue moving forward and eventually you will succeed no
matter how many times you fail before that. Success is something you will see if you continue
trying and never give up. This is something I remind my students/children everyday. I want
them to remember that it is ok to fail at times, all we have to do is remember to get back up.
My motivation
I wanted to be the one to change the lives of even just one child or numerous
children. I would like to say that it was an easy path but that would be a lie. None of
it was easy working, being a parent, being a wife and schooling were some of the
toughest things that I learned to manage and juggle. For me it was all worth it,
seeing those little faces light up when they are taught something they did not
know or even teaching them basic life skills such as potty training. I love seeing
them light up when they are successful, crying when they don't feel any success and
seeing them never give up and continue trying even when all odds are against
them.
My Motivators
How I have grown
I have grown so much as a person within the last four years. In the beginning I
had no idea what my classroom and teaching style was going to look like, but
through time and experience I have learned so much and I have watched numerous
teachers and the different teaching styles. I have modified those styles and found
something that fits me. I try to run my classroom to be a safe place where children
feel that no matter what they tell me i am there for them. I have created a fun
learning environment and an open relationship with the parents where they feel
comfortable reaching out to me with questions or concerns.
My Virtual classroom
Technology
Technology has made such an impact on the way we teach. Through time a
pacients i have learned how to navigate, create and adjust to technology. I
have created fun virtual assignments, lessons and daily activities
virtually. It was by no means an easy task. I plan to continue to use
technology when moving back to in person learning and continue to
provide some lessons and activities via online. It has been such a game
changer for me, but it has been for the best and I gained knowledge I never
thought I would need. I have another notch under my belt because of it.
Now I feel that I can accomplish anything.
Goals
● To remember that God is always first, I would not have done this without
him. He set this in motion for me and I give him the Glory and praise.
● To create a safe fun positive learning environment
● To maintain the utmost respect for everyone
● To remind students that it is ok to fail, we just have to remember to get
back up and try again.
● To never give up
● Keep student information confidential
● To ensure all students are learning and reaching their dreams
Final objective
Success, kindness and passion is the main reasons I get up each morning and
so what I do every day. There are a million jobs that I could do, teaching is the
job I choose and it chose me.
