1. QGIS installation
1.1. Visit https://www.qgis.org/en/site/forusers/download.html
1.2. Go to the ALL RELEASES tab and click for previous releases of QGIS (note: mac or windows)
1.3. Download and install the following file:
Windows users - QGIS-OSGeo4W-2.18.24-1-Setup-x86_64.exe
Mac users - QGIS-OSX-2.18.24-1.dmg
2. Creating a project
2.1. Click on the icon highlighted in Figure 1

5. Importing the sample shapefile
5.1. Layer >> Add Layer >> Add vector layer as shown in figure 6
5.2. Click on browse and navigate to the location of “dt2020_India marker.shp” and click open as
shown in figure 7. You should be able to see a triangle upon opening.

6. Adding maps
6.1. Web>> QuickMap Services>> Search QMS as in figure 8
6.2. Search for google maps and click on add for maps as indicated in figure 9
6.3. You can arrange your layers by dragging them up or down in the layers panel (in red in figure
10) to see this as your result.

7. Saving the project
7.1. Project tab>> Save
7.2. Save your project name as follows containing your city’s name; college code and your name.
For example: dt2020_city name_college code_xyz.qgs
