MINISTRY FOR THE SICK AND
HOMEBOUND
We are grateful to those who give of
their time and care to bring Holy
Communion to our parishioners who
cannot make it to church due to sickness or infirmity. If
you know of anyone who would like to receive
communion in their home or while hospitalized at West
Lincoln Hospital, please contact the parish office.
MEETINGS & EVENTS
At this time and until further notice, parish meetings,
bingo and other events are cancelled. It is suggested
that groups find alternate meeting places should you
wish to meet with your group.
MASS INTENTIONS & SANCTUARY LAMP
If you would like to have a Mass offered for someone,
contact the parish office for dates and times which are
available. The Mass stipend or offering given is $10.00.
Mass cards are $2.00.
PREAUTHORIZED DEBIT
(PAD) is offered for your donations. If you are
interested in using this convenient way to make your
offerings to the church, please contact the parish office.
Donations are processed once a month, on or about the
15th.
This week, the Sanctuary Lamp burns in

Christ’s presence in the Blessed Sacrament of the
altar.

IMPORTANT - VOLUNTEER HELP NEEDED
We are in dire need of volunteers to help clean and
sanitize the church. Please consider if you can spare
some time once or twice a month to help keep our
church clean and germ free.
Rachel, who does all the Ministry Scheduling and
Responsible Faith Ministry will need to hand over the
reins at some point in the near future. Should you be an
organized person who has some time to dedicate to this
ministry, Rachel can provide training and support
during the transition phase. Please contact Rachel or
the office if you are interested.

POPE FRANCIS’ PRAYER INTENTION FOR
THE MONTH OF OCTOBER
We pray that by the virtue of baptism, the laity,
especially women, may participate more in areas of
responsibility in the Church. (Apostleship of Prayer)
A special Mass of Remembrance for our loved ones
who have died during this past year will be held on
Monday November 2nd at 6:00 p.m. All parishioners

The vineyard of the Lord of hosts is the house of Israel.

Keep on doing these things, and the God of peace will
be with you. (Philippians 4)
The landowner will lease the vineyard to other tenants.
(Matthew 21)
Fear, selfishness
and bigotry can kill
whatever chances we
have of turning our
part of God’s
vineyard into
something
productive; but,
through justice,
generosity and
compassion, we can reap a rich and fulfilling harvest,
regardless of how small or poor or insignificant our
piece of the vineyard is.
Too often we see this “vineyard” God has given us as
ours alone, and we will manipulate it, abuse it, and
exhaust it to satisfy our own needs and pleasure — like
the tenants in the today’s parable, we will find some
way to cut down whoever challenges us or calls us
accountable.
Like the tenants in today’s parable, we are too quick
to reject whatever scares us or threatens us, whatever
we don’t understand, whatever challenges us and the
safe little worlds we have created for ourselves. In
Christ, God calls us to look beyond the “stones” of our
fears and welcome Christ (in whatever guise he may
appear) into this vineyard of ours, aware that he calls us
to the demanding conversion of the Gospel but
determined to sow and reap the blessings of God’s
reign.
Christ the Messiah comes with a new, transforming
vision for our “vineyard”: a vision of love rather than
greed, of peace rather than hostility, of forgiveness
rather than vengeance, a vision that enables us to
reconcile even the ugliest and smelliest dragon among
us.
OCTOBER - MARIAN MONTH
October is the month dedicated to the Holy
Rosary. This Marian devotion is a great
gift given to the Church. Dominican
tradition states that Mary appeared to St.
Dominic in 1206 as he was praying and
fasting to assist him in fighting the Albigensian heresy.
She gave him the rosary to assist in combating evil and
promoting peace. On October 7 we will be celebrating
the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary which
commemorates the victory of Lepanto where Christian
forces defeated the Ottoman Turks in a naval battle.
Pope Pius V had asked all of Europe to pray the rosary
for victory and it was achieved. This victory eventually
led to greater peace. Praying the rosary can assist us as
we strive to live a Christ-centered life. As we meditate
on the mysteries we are moved to a deeper
understanding and love for our Lord. The rosary also
becomes a prayerful means of achieving peace as Our
Lady of Fatima promised. It has also served as a
powerful prayer for families. Please encourage your
parishioners to pray the rosary. Our Lady of the Holy
Rosary, pray for us!
WEEKLY DONATIONS
The Sunday Collection box is placed at the entrance of
the church. If you are attending Mass, please drop
off your offering in the collection box before or after
Mass. If you are unable to attend Mass, please consider
online giving or preauthorized monthly giving. Ways
to give instructions are attached to this bulletin.
SACRAMENTS FOR OUR STUDENTS
First Communion Update - Parents of the remaining
students are asked to contact the parish office to let Fr.
Chris know your intentions to celebrate these
Sacraments even if you wish to defer.
Confirmation Update - Families of our grade 8
students have been contacted by Fr. Chris and
Confirmation dates have been scheduled for
confirmandees who were prepared last spring. If you
have not scheduled your date, please contact Fr.
Chris asap. Understandably, protocols currently in
place for our worship space will apply and will
determine the number of families able to celebrate at a
given time.

If you would like to use this convenient method through your bank, please follow these
instructions (some banks charge a fee):
Go online and log into your bank account. Select Interac e-transfer and select a
recipient – the first time you will have to add recipient by putting in
donations@sthelenscatholic.ca (after the first time it will then stay on your list of
recipients). Input amount to send and complete the transaction. Note in the memo area
what your donation is for; Sunday Offertory (SO), Facility Maintenance (FM) and
Building Fund (BF). (Please include your ID# in the memo - contact the office if you
do not have a parish ID.)
Example - SO $20 One transaction can be made for all three if you wish. Such a
notation could look like this: SO $xx, FM $xx, BF $xx. If your transaction does not
work the first time, please try the next day as the Diocese can only receive a set amount
of donations in a 24-hour period. If you have any questions, please email or call the
office.

COVID 19 pandemic
