PERCEPTION?

OR REALITY?
When we were children, we used to play the guessing game called
"What shape is the cloud?"

Each one of us would see the same clouds, but all our answers were different. Based on our imagination and
creativity, in the same cloud, we could see shapes of horses, wolves, old people, trees, dragons, and whatnot.

LIFE IS LIKE THAT GUESSING GAME.

We all might be present in the same situation, but we all might perceive the situation in
entirely different ways. Each of us has our own version of reality, our own mental impression
of the truth. But we often forget to acknowledge that. We all absorb stimuli selectively to form
our perceptions depending upon our interests, tendencies, past experiences, mental sets, and
biases. And that is different for different people.
So why do we always assume
that everyone who sees the
world as we see it is a rational
person, whereas people who
see the world differently than
us are fools?
Our perceptions define our
behavior. If we are not
flexible with our
understanding of different
PERCEPTION perceptions, this can often

THING.
So, what can
we do?
01

Firstly, we must open up to the possibility that

our perception of reality is not necessarily
everyone's version of reality. Let us show some
compassion and empathy and try not to
persuade people to change their perceptions
and come to our side of the kaleidoscope.
02

We should be self-aware of our own perceptions and try to

identify and understand where our thoughts are coming
from. How are we looking into the world with the tainted
glasses in our minds? Is that a dark tainted glass or rosy
pink colored?

If we have a negative mindset, can we try to change that

into a neutral or positive one, and begin to see things and
people in a better way? Are our perceptions swayed by
stereotypes etched in our subconscious minds? Can we
consciously try to change that?
Once we are aware of our own biases, we can quickly identify our blind spots too.
And an open and conscious mind would always help us accept others' points of
view, which will improve the way we interact with each other, leading to more
fulfilling relationships.
And the more we discuss different perspectives; we might
start seeing a more significant part of the bigger picture.

CLOUDS' SHAPES
IN OUR DIFFERENT
YET SAME SKY.
