POLICIES:
All students taking courses at USFQ must follow the rules for ethics of learning, research, and
behavior detailed in the USFQ's Code of Honor and Coexistence. All courses should follow the
policies stated in USFQ's Manual del Estudiante.
Attendance and punctuality:

● This class follows the USFQ rules regarding attendance and punctuality. A student may be absent
three times during the course without penalty (UNEXCUSED ABSENCES).
● If a student is absent more than three times, i.e., four times or more (unexcused absences), the
final grade will have a 10-point reduction. As an example, an A will become a B, and so forth.
● A student is considered late for class if he/she arrives 5 minutes late (tardies). After the first 10
minutes the student is considered absent.
● More than five absences, i.e., six times or more (6 UNEXCUSED ABSENCES), will result in the
student receiving an F for the entire semester.
● Each time a student accumulates three tardies, those three late arrivals will count as one
absence.
● If a student has proper justification for an absence, i.e., proof of domestic calamity, an accident, or
a medical certificate, this will need to be provided during the first week after the event.

Classroom and Course Policy:

● Cell phone use in class is many times a useful tool for class, just as your computer; please give it
its proper use.
● Depending on the level that you are taking, cellphones might only be used for checking vocabulary
or important information needed for a specific classwork assignment. Due to the methodology we
are using now, class participation is of utmost importance. During live videoconferences chatting,
texting, facebooking, etc. will end in a 0 on that day’s participation.
● The language used in class is English.
