NAPOLEON: GENIUS OF WAR

Napoleon is considered genius of war because he used different combined and innovated arms tactics, he
created new strategies to attack and he worried about his logistic.

The first reason why Napoleon was a genius of war was because his flexibility on different situations; that
let him combine and innovate when no one else was. He also innovated in the tactical and offensive use of
artillery. It can mention some Napoleonic tactics characterized by: intense drilling of the soldiers, speedy
battlefield movement, combined arms assaults between infantry, cavalry, and artillery, relatively small numbers
of cannon, short-range musket fire, and bayonet charges.

In addition, Napoleon is known as a genius of war because he created new strategies to conquer new
lands. He made up the modern corps as an independent operational unit. This allowed him to disperse his army.
Each corps consisted of infantry, cavalry, and artillery. As his army advanced to battle, he dispersed his units,
which meant that his opponents could never be sure of exactly what his objective was, in other words, he and his
troops didn’t become predictable.

Finally, Napoleon is considered genius of war is because his logistic. French stomachs were better
supplied than pretty much any other army of that period. That was a benefit for the army because it could
compensate a good nutrition with the physical effort they had. Napoleon offered a prize to anyone who could
transform and preserve food for his troops, that’s how the canning process was invented.
