ABSTRACT:

One of the focuses of Philippine Development plan 2017-2022 , indicated in the chapter

11 :“Reducing Vulnerability of Individuals and Families” of the said plan is to promote and to achieve a

universal social protection.Ahuge part of our society is compose of children and its important to consider

their welfare, moreover their development as much as possible.

In 2016, the Philippines ranked 116 out of 1888 countries on the Human Development Index,

lagging behind regional neighbours.Poverty and war plays a huge impact why Philippines is still one of

lowest ranking-country when it comes to Human Development.8 in 10 children experience some form of

violence, including physical, psychological, sexual or online abuse. These data only shows that we are far

beyond in fully creating a child-friendly society.

In 2015, a staggering 31.4 per cent of children were living below the basic needs poverty line

(down from. Being a country with a huge rate of poverty, a lot of our fellowmen specially childrens in

urban and conflict areas are experiencing maltreatment.Child labor, Domestic violence and sexual assault

were predominantly active in this area.

According to Council for the Welfare of Children and UNICEF, National Baseline Study on

Violence Against Children, 3 out of 5 children are experiencing psychological abused and 2 out of 3

children are experiencing physical violence. Most of the children who had been abused especially in their

formative years were likely to developed trauma. In most cases, abused children had come to developed

Post-traumatic Stressed disorder.

Cognitive behavioral Therapy focuses on focuses on challenging and changing unhelpful

cognitive distortions (e.g. thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes) and behaviors, improving emotional regulation,

and the development of personal coping strategies that target solving current problems.

Creating a complex, center or an institution that will addressed this problem would be a great help

in formulating a child-friendly society. Formulating spaces that completely considered their behavioral

and psychological pattern could be a great help in the healing process of the abused children.
