Instructions: Respond to each of the following questions with a complete sentence. You may receive if
a 100 if your answers show effort and quality. Please answer each prompt with at least one complete
paragraph.

Part 1: Explain your experience with job-hunting this summer for Work Based Learning. Explain the
struggles and successes you faced and how you believe they contributed to your current situation. If you
already had a job, explain why you stayed at this job for your WBL experience and how you plan to grow
at your current job over the course of the semester.

While registering for my senior year classes, I recognized that Work Based Learning would provide me a
great opportunity to obtain a medical internship to understand how the medical field may work and
what I would like my career path to look like. Due to COVID-19, I was unable to obtain my desirable
medical internship. I had to think expeditiously for a new internship/job that would be beneficial.
Fortunately, I was able to get in contact with a local elementary school and I was allowed virtually tutor
students in the fourth grade. Although this wasn’t exactly what I desired, I was able to improve more of
my computer skills, since all the work I’m doing is virtual. I have also improved a lot more in my social
skills. Communicating with people younger than me isn’t the most normal thing for me so to be able to
work with these students expanded my comfort zone.

Part 2: What are your expectations for Work Based Learning this semester? What do you hope to
achieve from your placement? How do you believe your time in the WBL program will help you to grow
professionally?

I expect to attempt to obtain some type of professional work experience. I hope to grow a lot more with
my communication skills. Documenting a lot of my work, managing my time, and staying organized, I
believe, will help me grow professionally.

Part 3: List three soft skills you would like to improve this semester? How do you plan to implement
these skills at your place of work?
Being flexible, patient, and communicating more are three soft skills I would like to improve this
semester. I intend to stay in contact with the parents of the students, allow the students to have more
time to think and work, and also make sure that both the students and I are working together efficiently
in order to improve soft skills.
