Introduction
The objective of this document is to provide all pertinent product information to successfully quote AutoVu 3rd
generation hardware. This does not include how to quote AutoVu software products within Security Center nor
technical training required to spec out the configuration of a particular camera. Refer to the “How to quote AutoVu
Software” guide in the sales tools and to the Design Guidelines documents to specify the appropriate
configuration. Refer to a Sales Engineer if you have any doubt.
This document also expose the product options and explain the items found on the pricelist in greater details.
AutoVu Hardware Offering Overview

Here is a quick summary of the entire AutoVu hardware line with proper nomenclature. Please refer to the AutoVu
Design Guidelines on the Sales tools for any details about the usage of each hardware.
Hardware model Description
Sharp — This is the 3rd generation of Sharp hardware. Often refer to as

Sharp 3.0 internally, its correct name is simply Sharp, and we are currently
at revision #3 (Since Dec 2014). It has a XGA or VGA resolution and
multiple lenses and illumination options (refer next sections).
VGA is slightly smaller and supports a lower resolution LPR sensor (VGA)
making it more cost effective for some applications.
To differentiate the external casing from previous generations, you can refer
to the mounting. This 3rd generation has a universal mounting that none of
the previous ones had.
Sharp EX — This unit is similar in size to the Sharp, but has no built-in
camera nor illuminator. It can take in two analog NTSC/PAL camera
streams to be analyzed by the license plate recognition (LPR) engine or an
LPR and a contect camera, similarly to the Sharp. We recommend using
specialised LPR cameras. External cameras are connected to the Sharp EX
via TNC connector. Standard BNC connectors are not sufficient to provide
environmental robustness specially for outdoor installation. A TNC-to-BNC
adaptor is very popular connector. Using this is not suitable for outdoor

installation.
WARNING: no 3rd generation has been released. So this is still second

generation (Sharp OS10)
SharpX camera and Sharp XS processing unit— This is the latest LPR
unit launched Dec 2014. It is composed by the AutoVu LPR Processing
Unit (also called SharpXS processing unit) which is the main LPR
processor and one to four SharpX cameras.
SharpX camera is offered with VGA and XGA resolutions. AutoVu LPR
Processing unit is offered in two level of CPU power: X1S and X2S. Best
analysis processing frame rate is 30fps but depending on the configuration,
the processing unit will not provided full frame rate analysis:
 X1S processing unit has one processor board and can connect one (1) to
four (4) SharpX camera, VGA or XGA resolution. Yet it is limited to two
(2) Sharp X XGA cameras for full frame rate performances (i.e. full
speed). You can still use it for three (3) and (4) SharpX XGA cameras,
but the processing power will limit the frame rate to 10fps, i.e. 6mph or
10km/h. X1S can connect to 4VGA at full frame rate.
 X2S processing unit has two processor boards and can connect one (1)
to four (4) SharpX cameras. Compare to X1S, it can connect four (4)
SharpX cameras at full frame rate (30fps) , i.e. full speed (220mph or
355km/h).
Generic Hardware
Choosing the proper lens, illumination, etc., is a technical task that not all are trained to do. Often, the customer
needs a quote ASAP and getting your sales engineer to do the field survey in time is not an option. This is why we
created the generic Sharp and SharpX camera items and the Sharp and Sharp X generic Kits. These item will
provide proper pricing and give your customer visibility on what is available.
We can also plan for the hardware to be on the shelf at the time of purchase and prevent shipping the wrong
configuration before the sales engineer has had a chance to finalize the configuration.

These parts are used for budget purposes only. Exact part number is dependent on illumination and lens chosen
at time of issuance of purchase order (PO). Unless the field survey has been done by a qualified individual, you
should quote the generic version of the Sharp camera requested by your customer.
To summarize: When quoting a sharp, use the generic part numbers. The generic kits include all components
(camera, cable, mounting/adapter, processing unit) except power supply and when the client is ready to place
the PO, your sales engineer can help fill in the proper SKU.
3.1 Generic cameras
3.1.1 Generic Sharp cameras
There are two main generic Sharp cameras located on the Generic Hardware part of the price list. There are the
Sharp XGA and Sharp VGA. These generic camera part number are for cameras with universal mounting;
no cables or accessories are included (refer to generic kits for cable included part number). They are valid
whatever the color of the camera is (Be carefull, black versions need more lead times; you need to contact PLM
to get the lead time given your project).
Additionally to the main generic parts, you can also quote the generic Sharp XGA with Freeze option, which is
now included into the pricing and define a specific serial number. (Note that Sharp VGA is NOT available with the
Freeze option).

3.1.2 Generic Sharp X cameras for XS processing unit (aka “Sharp XS cameras”)
If you need to quote a Sharp XS system, and you do not know yet what camera specifications will be used, you
can still use the X1S and X2S processing unit part numbers and the generic Sharp X cameras for XS processing
unit part numbers.
There are four generic Sharp X cameras for XS processing unit located on the Generic Hardware part of the price
list. There is the SharpX XGA and the SharpX VGA, plus their freeze version. These generic camera part
numbers are only for cameras: no mounting, no cables, no processing unit are included. They are valid whatever
the color of the camera is (Be carefull, black versions need more lead times; you need to contact PLM to get the
lead time given your project).

3.2 Generic Kits
3.2.1 Generic Sharp Kits
There are three generic Sharp packages located on the generic parts price list. There are the Sharp XGA, XGA
with Freeze option, and the Sharp VGA kits. These generic packages include the Sharp camera with its universal
mounting and 10m fixed cable. They are valid whatever the color of the Sharp (Be carefull, black versions need
more lead times; you need to contact PLM to get the lead time given your project).
They DO NOT include power supply as the power supply is very different from fixed and mobile installations.
The recommended power supply ([AU-H-POWERACINT-S]) is sold as an additional part in the spare part list
(refer to section 4.1)
[AU-K-GENERIC-S-XGA] Generic Sharp XGA kit including 10m-cable and universal mounting
(POWER SUPPLY NOT INCLUDED): This part number is used for

3.2.2 Generic Sharp XS Kits
There are fourteen (14) generic SharpXS packages located on the generic parts price list, depending on the
number of SharpXS cameras. These generic packages are valid whatever the mounting/mounting adapter and
the color of the SharpXS cameras (Be carefull, black versions need more lead times; you need to contact PLM to
get the lead time given your project).
They DO NOT include power supply as the power supply is very different from fixed and mobile installations.
The recommended power supply is sold as an additional part ([AU-H-POWERACINT-XS]) in the spare part list
(refer to section 4.1)
Apart from these kits, you can quote the “Freeze” version by adding the –F at the end of the kit part number :

All these kits exit in “freeze” version, i.e. including freeze option cameras. The part number is the same as above
with a –F at the end :

Hardware components
These components can be used to build a hardware fixed system or a mobile LAW/HOTLIST system. You may
use the AutoVu Building tool to help composing your package. (Refer to Pricing parts in Sales Tools)
4.1 Sharp components

For Sharp mobile or fixed installations there are two basic components that are required: the Sharp camera
(including its universal mounting) and the cable. Optionally you may want to quote the certified power supply. With
the 3rd generation, you do not need to choose a particular mounting as the camera is now offered with a universal
mounting which fits all previous mountings and can be used for top and bottom mounted configuration.
1. Sharp camera is the first component to quote. It comes in a variety of models depending on its
characteristics:
- Six different lenses (8, 12, 16, 25, 35, 50mm)
- Three different illuminators (590, 780, and 850nm)
- Two different LPR sensor resolutions (XGA, VGA)
- Two different colors (The default is white and the special-order is black which is rarely requested and
incurs lead time.)
Below is the part number scheme for the Sharp line, 3rd generation. Please be advised that not all part
numbers are commercially available. For example, we only have a couple of models available in black.
The point is that this diagram can be used to interpret an existing part number, not to create a new one. If
you need a particular part that does not exist, please contact PLM.

2. Sharp Cable is the second component required once the camera has been selected. Both network
connectivity and power are achieved through a Genetec proprietary water resistant cable available in a
variety of lengths. There are two standard cable links available for order including 10m and 25m.

If the user needs something shorter, he can cut and splice the cable with the included RJ45 connector.
For special applications, longer lengths may be available but are not standard offering. You should
contact your product manager to see if the required length is available but note delivery time may be
longer than the standard.
3. Power supply is the last component that you may need to add if the integrator does not provide one. The
power supplies we are offering are not weather-proof and they need to be contained inside a
weatherproof enclosure often referred to as a NEMA box. We do not supply the NEMA box. It is up to
the integrator or customer to create his own weather proof enclosure to contain the Power Supply.

WARNING: the power supply we provide is the one required to be FCC and CE compliant as the
tests have been done with this one. If another power supply is used by the integrator, the CE or
FCC compliancy is not certified.

All these parts, except the power supply, are included into the Sharp kits (refer to Section 5)
4.2 Sharp XS components
For Sharp XS installations there are four basic components that are required: (1) the processing unit, the (2)
Sharp XS cameras with their (3) mountings or mounting adaptors, the (4) cables and optionally the (5) power
supply.
1. Processing unit is the first component to take to compose your package. The processing unit comes in
two models referring to their processing power, i.e. capacity to handle one to four Sharp XS XGA
cameras. The processing unit kit contains the processing unit itself, the connectors, Ethernet cable and
both vertical and horizontal mountings, plus documentation to connect the unit and wire it.

Refer to the design guideline to know which one to choose depending on the number of cameras you will
need to handle. You can also use the AutoVu Building System tool, provided in the Sales Tools to
compose the appropriate package.
2. Sharp XS cameras are the next component to select. Similarly to Sharp, SharpXS cameras come in a
variety of models and permutations. Various characteristics include:
- Five different lenses (8, 12, 16, 25, 35, 50mm)
- Three different illuminators (590, 740, and 850nm)
- Two different LPR sensor resolutions (XGA, VGA)
- Two different colors (The default white and the special-order black which is rarely requested and
incurs lead time.).
Part number scheme is the same as the Sharp model:

Where

Not all permutations are valid and offered. For instance, 590nm and 740nm are only available for 12mm
and 16mm lenses. Also you shouldn’t be using VGA 25mm.
To know which one to choose, please use the AutoVu Building System tool or refer to the Design
guidelines.
3. Sharp XS camera mounting is the third component required. Here are the mountings available.

All of these solutions require a laptop to run the Patroller system. Typically, a law enforcement agency will already
have the laptop, but most parking agencies will rely on us to provide one. We resell Panasonic CF-19
Toughbook’s with mounting hardware and provide a 3-year warranty on the Panasonic CF-19 regardless of the
length of Genetec warranty. For details on the Panasonic CF-19, see sales tools.

We strongly recommend this Toughbook as we have encountered many issues in the field with other laptop
manufacturers less stable and efficient for mobile applications.
AutoVu Kits
5.1 Sharp Kits
Historically, we are proposing many different Sharp kits that can be used to simplify your quotation. These kits

5.2 Sharp XS Kits for Mobile Parking enforcement
There is no XS kits as is, as the multiplicity of composition would make it a too long list, and confusing. The
Generic Sharp XS kits is a first good start when you need to quote fixed or mobile applications and you can use
the AutoVu Building tool to get the list of required parts :
- Sharp XS camera (one to four cameras) with specific lenses, illuminators and resolutions
- Sharp XS camera mounting
- Processing unit
- Cables
- Optional power supply
Yet we offer mobile parking kits with XS processing unit as we know which camera resolutions, lenses,
mounting, processing unit, cables and accessories are required for those parking applications.
These mobile parking kits include:
- software license for in-car solution (Patroller)

- Sharp XS processing unit and cameras (XGA, 12mm),
- Cameras mounting (hard mount),
- Cables (7m cables),
- USB GPS or navigator solution
They DO NOT include
 The mapping data inside the vehicle as this will change from quote to quote. In some cases mapping data
may not even be required (like MLPI for example).
 The in vehicle laptop, as in some cases the client may have or provide his own, except for the street
weeper application.
Mobile Parking kit SKU are all formatted on the same basis as explained below :

For instance [AU-K-C1XS-850] refers to the single white AutoVu SharpXS Camera Kit for City application which
includes one single SharpXS XGA camera with 12mm lens and 850nm illuminator, all wiring, brackets, GPS and
in-vehicle Patroller license plus backoffice mapping access (but not in-vehicle mapping).

These kits do NOT INCLUDE the in-vehicle mapping data nor the laptop and laptop mounting, except for
the sweeper kit that contains the Panasonic thoughbook (AU-K-PANACF19DUAL).

It should be noted that all kits come with a hard mount option which means the Sharp XS cameras are
permanently mounted to the vehicle. In some cases clients may prefer to have a removable magnet mount option
(Au-H-XMNT-CAMU, see section 4.1) so that they can remove the cameras at the end of a shift for instance. To
get the magnet mount option instead of hard mount, they can use the part number [AU-H-XMNT-H2CAMU] to
convert the hard mounted to magnet mounted install. So in addition to the kit, you would order one [AU-H-
XMNT-H2CAMU] PER CAMERA.
