Importance of human rights

Human rights are standards that allow all people to live with dignity,
freedom, equality, justice, and peace. Unfortunately, There is one huge issue
nowadays in the world and that is people are not familiar with their rights.
Definitely, the first reason why it is so important to know your rights is to
protect yourself. Moreover, If you don’t know what your rights are, you can’t
know if they are being respected, protected and made real. According to an
article „Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person” but a lot of
people couldn’t enjoy or feel this right. For instance, In Brazil in 2007,
according to official figures, police killed at least 1,260 individuals—the highest
total to date. All incidents were officially labeled “acts of resistance” and
received little or no investigation.
The second reason, is that human rights give people the freedom to choose
how they live, how they express themselves, and what kind of government they
want to support, among many other things. In addition, Human rights also
guarantee people the means necessary to satisfy their basic needs, such as food,
housing, and education, so they can take full advantage of all opportunities.
Human rights are often discussed and defended by the key philosophers. For
example, Kant argued that human rights are based in the fundamental moral
right to be treated as an end in oneself, a view that he felt was completely
justified by the value of human reason: a species that has the extraordinary
reasoning power of human beings is special enough to have natural, basic rights.
people need to understand equality and know their rights, to understand
both how they should be treated, and how they should treat others. I personally
think that knowing your rights as a human is a very important thing because you
can use your rights in many situations. Sometimes, your rights can get you out
of some trouble. Therefore, it is always good to know what are your rights. if
you don’t know them, then you cannot fight for them.
The issue of poor maintenance and the problem of population poverty are the
main problems in the world today. Despite the fact that poverty is something
that many of us know about, we’re not realizing just how big of a problem it is.
Every state sooner or later faces such difficulties and searches for the ways out
of the situation. It is known that poverty as a global problem means condition
caused by the lack of resources for leading a normal style of life that most part
of planet population is used to. However, learning about poverty, who it effects,
and how you can help is one thing. Actually raising enough awareness to inspire
other people to get involved is quite another. So here are some possible
aproaches.
First of all, media can be one solution for making people more aware of the
poverty problem. It has the possibility to cover the whole population and inform
them about the amount of people, citites and countries that are confronting with
this problem. Although stories about poverty concern people who are potential
audience, media organisations do not give enough attention to poverty and
inequality, nor do they report sensitively about disadvantaged communities.
Furthermore, The Internet and social networks gives us quick and accessible
channels to engage in social justice issues. It has also expanded the audience. A
survey found that one in three teens say they would “friend.” “like,” or “follow”
a charitable cause they believe in. more young people are aware and ready to
take action because they have access to the information.
Secondly, i think each of us can have an influence and make people more aware
of poverty. You could organise a talk or presentation by someone who has
experienced the effects of poverty or worked closely with someone who has
done so. You could organise a debate, forum or hypothetical about a local issue,
and include for example local community leaders. You could organise a
workshop, seminar or conference on particular poverty issues. It could be
designed mainly for people who are directly affected by poverty, provide
community or welfare services or work with disadvantaged people in some
other capacity. You could carry out some research or a survey about the issue
and use it as a basis for discussion at the meeting.
It is the duty of journalists to report fairly and accurately about poverty, bring
the difficulties and the disadvantages experienced by certain people on a public
debate that could, in turn, prompt the government to respond.
