Course Code: PE 111

Course Title: SELF-DEFENSE

Course Units: 2 Units

Course Description:

This class is a self defense course designed primarily for beginner


students enrolled in PE 111. Students are expected to perform skills,
including footwork, striking, blocking and escaping to pass the subject. The
course is in conjunction with fitness concepts, exercise and safety. Students
will be able learn self defense skills and techniques and apply it in real life
situation.

Course Outcomes:

At the end of the course, the students should be able to:


1. discuss the benefits of self defense in real life situation
2. demonstrate basic self-defense which involves fundamental movements
such as punching, kicking, and blocking;
3. apply the principles of self- defense in real life situations;
4. create doable exercise plan to master the art of self-defense.

Physical Education
Interdisciplinary study of all areas of science relating to the
transmission of physical knowledge and skills to an individual or a group, the
application of skills and their results.

Article XIV, section 19 of the 1987 Philippine constitution “the state shall
promote Physical Education and encourage sports programs, league
competitions, and amateur sports including training for international
competition to foster self-discipline, teamwork and excellence for the
development of healthy and alert citizenry”.
