BASIC ELEMENTS OF

ARCHITECTURE

DRAWING A POINT/DOT

A point itself has no size, every line consists of a

point, so it is the founding element of everything. In
architecture, an architect selects various points in
the design space that should provide a certain
space or outlook. They are used to create texture or
form, and space.

MAKING A STRAIGHT LINE

A line is a continuous combination of dots, with an

exact distance between each dot. Lines define and
create shapes, forms and space. They are used to
create texture, patterns, and color tones. Big
architects use a different combination of lines can
tell a different story each time.

TRACING A SHAPE

This is where the end of one line meets the

beginning of another. Shapes can be of two types,
geometrical and organic shapes. Geometrical
shapes have exact angles at every edge, they
include triangles, squares, circles, etc. Organic
shapes do not have proper angles to their shapes
and are meant to be natural.

DRAWING A FORM

Form is the three dimensional combination of dots,

lines and shapes. Form has height, area, mass and
more than one surface. Each surface of their form
has a different view from each angle. There are two
types of forms which are, Concrete form and
Illusion form.

PAINTING IN COLOURS

Color is one of the most expressive elements of

architecture or design. The best architects in India
use color to their advantage. Color gives life to
elements and has the power to influence or bring
out our feelings. The primary colors red, blue and
yellow are the foundation of all other colors.
