However, the voltage induced is quite small. Rochelle salt provides higher
values of induced EMF, but it is affected by temperature varia ons. The
below figure shows a pressure transducer which u lizes the property of
piezoelectric crystals. The transducer consists of a diaphragm by which
pressure is transmi ed to the piezoelectric crystal. The crystal generates
an EMF across its two surfaces which is propor onal to the magnitude of
the applied pressure.
Advantages
Photoelectric transducer
The below figure shows a light source and a photo tube used for the
measurement of pressure. The output voltage depends upon the amount
of light falling on the tube through the window. The opening of the
window is con-trolled by the pressure of the gas falling on a membrane.
The output voltage approximately varies linearly with the displacement of
the aperture, and hence the pressure.

When the radia on of light fall on cathode plates the electrons starts
flowing from anode to cathode. Both the anode and the cathode are
sealed in a closed, opaque evacuated tube. When the radia on of light fall
on the sealed tube, the electrons starts emi ng from the cathode and
moves towards the anode. The magnitude of the current is directly
propor onal to the intensity of light passed through it.

Photovoltaic cell
The movements of electrons develop the current in the cell and the
current is known as the photoelectric current.
Thus,
Hall effect transducers are non-contact devices, have small size, and high
resolu on. Such transducers can be used in the measurement of velocity,
revolu ons per second, magne c field, charge carrier density,
measurement of displacement, etc. Hall effect transducers can be used to
measure current in a conductor without actually connec ng a meter in
the conduc ng circuit.
The instrument used for measuring the physical and electrical quan es is
known as the measuring instrument.
1. Electrical instrument
2. Electronic instrument
3. Mechanical instrument
Mechanical instrument
It is used for measuring the physical quan es. This instrument is suitable
for measuring the sta c and stable condi on because the instrument is
unable to give the response to the dynamic condi on. The electronic
instrument has quick response me. The instrument provides the quick
response when compared to the electrical and mechanical instrument.
