Reported Speech

TEACHER’S SHEET: With the activities proposed here, students will be

able to practice Reported Speech.

IMPORTANT: Do not hand out the worksheet until they guess the name of
the song or the band.

BEFORE LISTENING: Read the quote provided by the teacher and guess the
name of the song or the band.

WHILE LISTENING: Students listen to the song and identify the person.

AFTER LISTENING: Assuming your students have practiced the Reported

Speech long enough, allow them to change the song and remind them
that they have to change the pronouns as well.

Example:
“I don’t know what he does to make you cry
But I´ll be there to make you smile.”

He said that he didn´t know what the other guy did to make her cry, but he
would be there to make her smile.

1. He said that he didn´t have a fancy car and that to get to her, he would
walk a thousand miles.
2. He said he didn´t care if the other guy bought her nice things.
3. He asked if the other guy’s gifts came from the heart.
4. He said that if she had been his girl, he would make it so they would
never be apart.
5. He said that his love was al lhe had to give and without her, he didn´t
think he could live.
6. He said that he wished he could give the world to her but love was all
he had to give.
7. He asked if it seemed like the other guy was not even listening to a
word she said.
8. He told her to tell him her problems and he said that he would try his
best to kiss them all away.
9. He asked if the other guy left when she needed him the most.
10. He also asked if his friends got all her time.
11. He said he was on his knees praying for the day that she would be his.
12. He said that he didn´t want her to cry no more inside.
13. He said that all the money in the world could never add up to all the
love he had inside.
14. He said that he loved her and that he would give to her all he could
give.
15. He finally said that everything he had was for her and that his love was
all he had to give.
