Good day, Ms. Ma. Cecilia!

I write to express my interest in applying for the position of SCIENCE RESEARCH SPECIALIST I with
Plantilla Item No. OSEC-DOEB-SRAS1-20,21-2015 in the NATIONAL RENEWABLE ENERGY BOARD
TECHNICAL SERVICES AND MANAGEMENT DIVISION. I believe I am a good fit for this position, as
established by my scholastic credentials and more importantly, my passion to work in the field of
renewable energy.

As an entry level job, I do not know much about how a research specialist performs day to day job but I
believe my perseverance to learn and to be trained will compensate for the things I lack in experience. I
did experience conducting and overseeing a research on my final year as a mechanical engineering
student. It is a work that requires analytical and mathematical approach, and a lot of positivity for our
research to meet its deadline. During those days, the hardship taught me how to surpass my own limit
for limit exists only in the mind, and testing boundaries is a great way to know the reality of how far
anyone’s attitude can last. Aside from my final research during my university days, I was fortunate
enough to have my internship in Armscor Global Defense, Inc., an artillery manufacturing company
based in Marikina City. I was assigned as a Mechanical Design Engineer Intern, and have the opportunity
to learn CAD drafting using SolidWorks. But nothing beats my experience seeking assistance on the first
few days, following orders and helping others with the tasks I can perform. It is in the spirit of
cooperation and unity that one can perform at his best with the best people one can ask for. I believe
things like teamwork, gratitude and strong passion helped me learn and accomplish the internship.
I really would love to be part of the Department of Energy, serving the country with ways to change the
course of how we innovate power generation as an institution, securing reliable and reasonable energy
and implement policies for a price-competitive market for electricity.

Thank you for taking your time reviewing my application. I attached a resume in support of this
application to give you a wider perspective of my credentials. I hope to hear from you with positive
news.

Regards,
John Paul D. De Villa
