Good Idea: Morning Reports Made in

Report section in DART
Morning reporting has historically been a difficult issue in regards to continuity, both
between shifts and personnel changes.
An easy solution has been found using the Reporting function in DART.

Add another section, by right clicking on an existing Section Header.

Name this new section: Morning Reports and enter the Type of section as a ‘Main
Results’, this will enable you to have graphics and data files. In this new section, add a
page by right clicking on the Morning Report Section Header, and selecting ‘Add Page.’

Name this new page in the following format: date_time_data, for example:
13aug07_10:00_data. By using this format it means the viewer will know exactly when
the data file was created and what it contains. This should be a ‘Type’ format page. It is
also useful to create a morning plot, named: date_time_plot, made from a ‘Graphic’
format page.

Each morning the data and plot should be exported to pdf, and saved in the job folder on
a computer as a minimum. This pdf file can be given to the client as the morning report,
or another ASCII data file can be created, as per local requirements. The plot pdf can also
be given to the client. By creating the Morning Report pdf file archive, it means that any
reports given to the client will be of the same format, and will not change between shifts
nor if personnel are changed out.

Note: The Morning Report pages in the Report in DART will be back calculated if
values are changed by the inputter – hence the requirement for the pdf file archive.

Below is a suggested format for the data files, though these can be altered in the normal
way for local requirements.
