Introduction to Versa SD-WAN

Lab Infrastructure
Every lab is running on a virtual environment. KVM/ESXi hypervisors are used to build the lab
infrastructure. Each lab has 1 Director node, 1 Analytics node, 2 Controller nodes, 1 hub node, and
6 FlexVNF CPE nodes. The instructor will assign FlexVNF CPEs to participants in order to perform the
lab tasks. Most configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting is performed from the Director user
interface, with exception of some shell and CLI commands that are to be run on each node. The Hub
node is pre-configured, and students should not modify or delete the configuration of the Hub node
(Node 105)

IP Addressing of Student Nodes

Each node in the SD-WAN is a FlexVNF CPE node running as a virtual machine. Each node has an
out-of-band management interface (Eth0), 2 WAN facing interfaces (vni-0/0 and VNI-0/1), and 2
LAN facing interfaces (VNI-0/2 and VNI-0/3). The VNI-0/3 LAN facing interface is used in the High
Availability lab only, and is not shown on the table in the slide.

The out-of-band management interface address is in the 192.168.99.x/24 network. The last octet (.x)
is the same value as the node number. Similarly, the node number is used as the last octet of both
WAN network IP addresses. All addresses for the lab environment are shown in the slide.

The lab environment is a shared environment. Each student is responsible for the configuration and
management of a single device, but at times coordination is required between multiple students in
order to complete the lab task. If you believe that you have configured your tasks properly, but do not
see the expected results in the lab, ensure that the end results are not dependent on other students. If
you have any questions about the lab environment or lab results, notify your instructor.

Hosts and Controllers

There are 4 hosts in the network. Nodes 110, 112, 114, and 105 (hub) are connected to the hosts.
The hosts will be used for various tasks during the labs, such as connectivity verification and traffic
generation.

The lab environment contains 2 Versa Controllers which are not configured by the students, but are
used for route propagation and deployment tasks. The IP addresses of the hosts and controllers, and
their corresponding interfaces, are shown in the slide.
